THE GLORY OF HIS PRESENCE – part 3. Exodus 33:14-16. Our objective has been to understand the weight and the impact of the presence of God. Summary is: when you encounter the presence of God, we started last night by saying that the presence of God is the most valuable asset in the life of mortal man. Church Gist. The best God can do for anyone is to give you his Presence. Abraham, Joseph, Jacob, Gideon, Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul – all encountered God’s presence and it shaped their lives. In the morning Service we asked, “What is the Glory of His Presence?” What does the glory of his presence convey?
1. We saw that it is the glory of revelational light. That God’s presence comes with revelational light. The light that comes to reveal you to you. The light that comes to reveal your potentials and the light that comes to uncover your destiny.
2. The glory of his presence is the glory of light for direction and redirection of life. The meaning of this is: every time you come into God’s presence, you encounter light that can give your life direction and in some cases, redirection. Our first example is
– Abraham: Genesis 12:1-3. Abraham’s life was redundant, stagnated, had no result, he had remained on the same spot for a long time until God encountered him and gave him direction. Listen beloved, direction is the cure for stagnation. Church Gist. You don’t leave where you are because you don’t know what to do. Once you know what to do in life, in ministry, you leave where you are. What you know to do brought you so far; what you don’t know to do is the reason why you haven’t left where you are. Abraham’s life got direction at the encounter of his presence.
– Isaiah: Isaiah 6:1 – Isaiah got the clarification of his call and direction in God’s presence. There are many today who know they’re called to this or that assignment or this business or that, but there is no clarity. Isaiah 6:7-9. Church Gist. Here Isaiah was getting the clarity of his call, he was getting direction even on what to speak in the presence of God.
– I speak to someone here today, whatever has not been clear to you, clarity is coming tonight!
– Moses: it was a redirection. Moses thought he was on the right path – Exodus 3:1-4. Many times before there is a turnaround, there must be a turn aside. Many of us we have followed the same direction and we have not reached our expected destination. Church Gist. Many times there would be a turn aside before we can experience a turnaround. Moses had followed the path he knew, it had produced no result until he turned aside and when he turned aside God gave him an assignment that changed the course of his life. It is possible that you’re pastoring in a location that you’re not meant to be. It is actually possible that you’re located in a locality or city or nation that you’re not meant to be in.
This may be hard to say but there are so many people pursuing the wrong things. You see, the worst thing that can happen to anybody is to direct your life’s energy into an endeavour that deserves no energy at all. Church Gist. Let me say it like I wrote it – that one of the worst things, one of the worst tragedies of life is investing time, energy and resources in a direction that is not the will of God for your life. One of the worst things, one of the worst tragedies of life is running very fast in the wrong direction. You’re running very fast but in the wrong direction. You’re spending so much time but in the wrong direction. You’re wasting so much effort in the wrong direction. You’re exerting so much energy in the wrong direction. Church Gist. Glory Conference 2024 will be said to be successful if someone’s direction that was not right is changed.
One day, our father in the Lord, Bishop David Oyedepo after they got a land to move the ministry from where it was to where they thought it should be. Church Gist. They’ve spent so much money on acres, was a hundred acres or something, they’ve done pillars in the earth and done everything in the earth. He said, one day God told him, “that place you’re planning to Church to, I’m not there. That’s not my plan, that’s not my will for you”. He said he sent for the architects, the engineers and everybody, he said, “move from that site now” and they moved. Later on, God gave them another site, a bit smaller than that one but that was God’s will for them. Church Gist. He left the pillar, left everything on the ground. He said, many years later, one day, God told him, ” you know that place you were planning to take the ministry to at that time? If you had gone there, that would have been the end of the ministry”. Church Gist. That is, with all the anointing, with all the grace, with all the giftings.
Moses faced the wrong direction until God redirected him. Paul the Apostle faced the wrong direction. Church Gist. He thought he was working for God. He was killing people, he was persecuting the saints and considered that his calling until on the road to Damascus, God redirected him. Acts 9:1-10. Peter was redirected, he thought he was going to be a fisherman for life until Jesus redirected him to become a fisher of men. Luke 5:1-10. Church Gist. My dear brothers and my sisters, one of the greatest assets of any man on earth is to come to the point where you know you’re wrong. Number one, to agree that you’re wrong and number two, to agree to make u-turn. Church Gist. The arrogance of man, the pride of man does not ever want to agree that they made the wrong move, took the wrong step.
When our Church was a few years, we took a satellite Church to a location within Abuja City and after about 5-6 weeks, Nyanya to be precise, equipment have been bought, chairs have been bought, everything has been done. Church Gist. And while I was in the presence of the Lord, the Lord told me that He did not send us to do that Church planting and that it was not his plan and purpose. So, the Pastor I sent there, I called him, I said, “God said He didn’t send us to do that Church planting and that wasn’t within his plan”. Church Gist. The Pastor said, ‘so, what do I do with the equipment?’ I said, ‘look for any Church there and give them’. ‘what about the chairs?’ ‘give it to any Church in that locality and be on your way back’. He returned back grudgingly or grumblingly, if there’s such an English in England. (Laughs). Church Gist. We forgot about Church planting and then held our peace and then many years later, God said it is now time to go. And then, we went, not to Nyanya anymore, we went to Mararaba which is just nearby. Church Gist. Today, in that axis, there maybe up to 100 Churches in that axis alone now. Where some are running 3 services, 4 services, 5 services except for the connection we are doing right now. Do you understand what I’m saying? I told the Pastor, about turn! ‘what do we do with chairs?’ give to other churches that are there’. ‘what do we do with the equipment?’ give it to anybody who needs the equipment. Church Gist. It is never too late to be right and no matter how far you went in the wrong direction, a u-turn is possible when you realize you have made the wrong turn, when you realize you’re in the wrong direction.
– I prophesy to somebody here tonight, I declare a redirection for your life, destiny and your life’s assignment!
3. It’s the glory of liberation.
The presence of God carries liberation power. 2 Corinthians 3:17. Everytime you encounter the presence of God, you encounter liberation. Church Gist. That was what happened when God spoke to Moses concerning Israel. Exodus 3:7-10. ” I am come down to set them free from oppression, affliction, depression and suppression”.
– Beloved, tonight, you’re inside a liberating presence!
– You’re in the midst of a delivering presence!
– You’re in the midst of a healing presence!
– can someone say Amen like a believer?
Luke 6:17-19. It was like a flowing river. ‘and He healed some of them?’ Are you reading well at all? He healed just the headaches among them? How many people are being healed here tonight? Church Gist. How many people are being delivered here tonight? How many people are being liberated here tonight? If you’re among the ‘all’, jump on your feet with a shout of Hallelujah!
– I don’t know what is in your bloodstream as you came here tonight, high cholesterol is cleared out! Blood sugar is cleared out! Sugar diabetes is cleared out! In the name that is above every name, hepatitis A,B,C is cleared out! Beta thalassemia is cleared out! Leukemia is cleared out! Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, they are cleared out!
– you believe that, shout the loudest Amen!
The glory of His presence is the glory of liberation. Many times I ask in our Church, how many of you, when you stepped in today you came with a sickness? and they did. Church Gist. How many of you, you don’t know when it left? and many can’t tell when it left. The ulcer is gone, the hypertension is gone, the HIV is gone. They can’t tell. “I’m just realizing now that something left me and I’m not aware”
– Tonight, something is going to leave you, but you are going to be aware.
It is the glory of liberation.
4: The glory of destiny restoration. Whenever you encounter God, He restores your destiny. Beloved brothers and sisters, there is no destiny too lost that cannot be restored. Exodus 3:1-5. Church Gist. We saw how Moses was lost in the wilderness until he came into contact with the presence of God at the flames of the burning bush and his destiny experienced restoration and resurrection.
When Jesus resurrected, Peter had already gone to the World. John 21:1. Jesus went after Peter, located Peter. “Simon, lovest thou me” Long story made short, this young man who had left his calling and had left his life’s assignment encountered the Master and got restored. Church Gist. Maybe you’re here tonight, you are fully aware that you are not where you are meant to be, you are not who you’re meant to be, something is amiss in your life. You understand that things are not the way they should be with your life…
Let me tell you a story, a man came to see me in our Church in Area One many years ago, tall man. This man had been married like 3 times but no wife could stay with him. He said they perceived a breath, they perceived a smell, they perceived an odour from his body that no other person could perceive except the women. Church Gist. He was a top management official of a financial institution, top management level. These women all left him, everything crashed to zero, he came to my office with bathroom slippers sort of kind of wear, something in that range. When I asked him, “I’m going to pray for you but I want you to go pick up so and so message series of breaking of curse and listen to the messages. Church Gist. Pray and fast and come back let me pray for you” He had no money to buy the messages and he had nowhere to play them. That was to the extent he crashed.
Long story made short, I did my best. Now, top management level of a finance institution, I prayed for him, did all I could do for him. That was a destiny crash. Church Gist. Then one day, I was at the Abuja Airport and I was coming and I saw this tall man in decent suit, tie, smash, sharp, walking in my direction and he said “Pastor, good morning Sir” and I said good morning. He said “You don’t recognize me” and I said no, I see many people all the time. Then I looked carefully, I said “Now, I recognize you. You are the one? What happened?” He had a Smith Wigglesworth book under his hand, smash, sharp. “What happened to you?” He said it’s a long story. Church Gist. I said, “Can we go in my car so you can tell me the story?” Because when I knew him before, it was the same man, he didn’t even have where to sleep. He said “Oh, so sorry, my driver is waiting for me” Chauffeur driven car waiting, his own. Long story made short, the devil crashed him from up (to) down, he encountered Jehovah and Jehovah took him from down back up. Church Gist. He returned back to another financial institution and got the same kind of placement he had before he crashed down.
– I don’t know who God sent me to here tonight, but in London Glory Conference, you are rising back up.
I am having a little time pressure which is for good so that our sound can be reset and made better against the Commanding the Day, but let me just quickly round off here.
Destiny restoration. ‘Lord, here is my life. I know there is more to me than this. I know I’m meant to be somewhere higher than where I am. I am encountering you at the Glory Conference, restore my destiny.” Now, there are two types of destiny restoration. Church Gist. The first kind of destiny restoration is where the devil takes something from your life, like the type I mentioned now. You were someone and the devil brought you down from there. God took you back there, that is destiny restoration. The second destiny restoration is when you are meant to be here (forward) in life, but the devil still kept you here (backward). You are meant to be walking with that kind of mantle, but you are still here. Church Gist. When God takes you from here and moves you to where you are meant to be, that is number two destiny restoration. I see many people in that number two area, not really that you lost something but you are not where you are meant to be. Church Gist. By this time of your life, you are meant to be somewhere in destiny, in ministry, in finances, you are just meant to be up there, but you are still detained back here.
– I declare in the name of Jesus, you are shifting there.
It is the glory of destiny restoration.
– I’m talking to somebody, you almost got exhausted, you got tired, discouraged of staying on the same spot, but not after tonight.
5: The glory of life transformation. When Jacob becomes Israel, that is transformation. That is capacity enlargement. When Saul becomes Paul, that is transformation. When the person Jacob becomes the nation Israel, that is transformation. Church Gist. Something called the enlargement of spiritual capacity. You know, spirituality is in capacities just like vehicles have engine capacities. Somebody may have the capacity to pastor 1,000 members, do everything you can, he can’t exceed that capacity. Give him 5,000 members, the membership will drop until it becomes 1,000. Church Gist. It’s not that he’s a bad person, he just doesn’t have the capacity to be there. But in God’s presence, capacity can be enlarged.
That was what happened to Jacob. He was a person before that encounter and He said now, you are the nation, Israel. Business capacity, where you are just dealing locally in your country and God says “I want to make you a multinational. Church Gist. I want to take you and make you in charge of corporations that deal with nations and kings of nations” and He just enlarges your capacity.
– That is happening tonight!
– Who is it happening to?
For a long time, our Church remained at the range of about 4,000, 5,000, for a very long time. After a season of our lives, one Sunday, we saw about 10,000 added to the last Sunday. Church Gist. As if something just…when we were in that 3, 4, 5,000, no matter what we did, it remained there until one day, encountered His presence, received an instruction, stepped into action, we haven’t recovered from there. Church Gist. The glory of His presence is the glory of destiny transformation with capacity enlargement.
We had a crusade in Kaduna Nigeria about 3 or 4 weeks ago. They said the last crusade that was like that in that city was the crusade of Reinhard Bonnke of 23 years ago in that same city. Church Gist. Incredible manifestation of the power and presence of God by the virtue of capacity enlargement.
I began in the morning to tell of the secret of His presence and the secret I gave, I said God’s presence answers to value. God goes where He is valued, He is honoured, He is priced. Church Gist. He doesn’t go where He is tolerated or taken for granted. He doesn’t go where people have other things that matter more to them. He does not go only where people intend to use Him. You know there are people who want to use God, they have no business, they just want to use Him, what they can get out of God. Church Gist. He doesn’t go where He is not Lord of all. He has to be Lord of all or He is not Lord at all. Finally, the presence of God answers to pressure at the place of prayer. Psalm 63:1-2.
