Give the Lord a clap of hand as you take your seat in the presence of the Lord. I like you to know that this is introduction and rehearsal for what is to come in this conference. We travelled over 24 hours since Sunday evening about 7pm and we reached here about 3pm your time (American time) which is like 10pm our time. So it is over 24 hours on the road. You claim that this is about 9pm but it is around 3am or 4am so I am actually doing a night vigil right now based on where I am coming from.
Psalm 85:6. Tonight, I want to speak on the subject, THE NECESSITY OF REVIVAL. Understanding why we need revival especially in America. I want you to know that I am talking of America. The America of Charles Grandison Finney who was the man who looked at people and they were convicted of their sin. Church Gist. The America of D. L. Moody of Chicago. The America of Abraham Lincoln who declared the fast 3 times during the American civil war. The America of Mordecai Ham who organized the crusade that led to the salvation of Billy Graham. Church Gist. Mordecai Ham had a crusade and after publicity and after he did every single thing, nobody showed up. He gave an altar call, it was a little boy who came out about 12 year old and he concluded that the crusade failed. That little boy was Billy Graham.
We are talking of the America of Billy Sunday, Jonathan Edwards who preached sinners in the hands of an angry God. We are talking of the America of John Alexander Dowie, John Graham Lake. Even though Smith Wigglesworth came from the United Kingdom yet, he had so much impact in America. A. W. Tozer who was impacting Canada and also America, The America of Oral Roberts, T. L. Osborn, A. A. Allen, William Branham, Kenneth Hagin, John Osteen (The father of Joel Osteen), Kathryn Kuhlman, Aimee Semple McPherson. Church Gist. All these people are people who impacted this generation and this world and this is the America that these people came out of.
Everyone knows today that there is a very dire need for revival in America and I am going to raise just 5 reasons:
- There is the disappearance of the knowledge of the true God: America today needs to know God. There is the lack of understanding of who the true God is. There is the lack of understanding of the foundational history of America. America did not just happen to become the greatest nation in the Earth and it is sliding back now into destruction because of what is going on. Church Gist. America was founded on God, righteousness, godliness. Psalm 11:3. The founding Fathers founded America but there are many Americans today who don’t know what America is all about.
- The increase in AntiChrist and AntiGod sentiments: we have people today, it looks almost like the headquarters of everything that is against God is in America. The same America that became great because of God. I don’t want to talk about all the agendas of all the things going on in the land that are contrary to Scriptures. Church Gist. 10 commandments out of the schools and all the things happening in the land. This same nation that shook the Earth in revival, power, is now literally AntiGod, AntiChrist in many ways.
- The lovelessness and the wickedness in the land (I am sorry to say this): Matthew 24:12. Little child steps into a school and ki.lls everybody and shoots at random. Teacher is dead, children are dead. Where did that come from? Church Gist. A demonic spirit of hatred; a demonic spirit of lovelessness, wickedness, bloodshed on the land. But I see God doing something in this season!
- The life of ease and complacency in the land: where people think that all that is needed is just wake up, eat food, move around, hang out, have friends, have fun, but that devil is a bastard liar.
- In the name that is above every name, Jesus Christ the resurrected Lord, I declare America shall see revival!
Amos 6:1, Luke 12:15. You know what? We don’t have any other option but to believe God in Africa most times. We have to believe God in Africa because nobody cares for your social security, medical insurance, nobody cares for anything. If you are afflicted by anything, you have to trust God to live or die. Church Gist. Young boys, young ladies, won’t go to Church, everybody is just hanging out. Do you know that was the challenge of Sodom and Gomorrah? Have you read that before? I read it for you in Ezekiel 16:49 and actually in some ways, America is almost becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah. I’m sure you understand what I am talking about. Where a lot of things are almost getting so legalized apart from God overturning some things right now; even among clergy at times. Church Gist. How many of you know that most Americans (I am very sorry to say this) are content to live in their neighbourhood? They don’t even care about the next city. There are those who don’t know about another state in America from birth to death.
We went to Nashville sometime ago for a conference and the jug was placed there to serve coke; you just fetch as much as you want and the cups were very big. Church Gist. Who would ask you in Africa to fetch what to drink, and fetch as much as you want? When they are going to divide one bottle for 3 or 4 of you? Fullness of bread! And the food here is not too costly; you can buy a lot of junk for very little amount.
Abundance of idleness – where somebody does not want to work but he needs money. Some people have children out of wedlock may be because they will take care of them. It’s that life of ease and complacence that is not just in the world but entered the Church. Church Gist. Where people will be looking at their time in a service of one hour, where the pastor has to do a lot of things to make people come to Church, where you need to serve tea and some things in program so that people can just come.
That was not how this nation started. I heard Morris Cerullo said in the days of their healing revival, they will be preaching every night for 5 weeks. T. L. Osborn was in Madison Square every night for about 7 weeks, Billy Graham preached in London England for 88 nights at Wembley Stadium in 1968. Church Gist. Coro did not help issues – everybody stay at home and watch television and just online and now it is a struggle to get them back to Church. We need to cry out to God otherwise if things continue to slide like this, AntiChrist, the bond woman and their religion will overwhelm the nation and people will be struggling to call upon the name of God but that must not happen!
Lift your right hand and say, “Father, we need revival in America, in North America send us revival!”
- The mission sending nation has become a big mission field. America sent more missionaries to the ends of the Earth more than any country of the world may be second only to Britain. America sent us books, bibles, tracts. In the time we gave our lives to Christ in the late 70s, early 80s, evangelistic tracts that we had all came from America. America struggled to reach the world. Church Gist. Kenneth Hagin for example was more known in Nigeria than almost in America because of the impact of this people around the earth. How can those who brought the gospel to us not know what they taught us again?
I am sorry to say some things I am about to say. You know in Africa, suit and tie was not our dress; we had native traditional dresses that were ours. They came and showed us decent suit and tie and decent dress for the women; they showed us everything. All of a sudden it appears like they forgot what they showed us! Church Gist. And that is why we are here. Believe me we are not looking for anything here; there are those who go around looking for … we are not looking for anything here. We are here for primitive apostolic fire. The ancient apostolic fire! We are here in solidarity with the founding fathers of this nation to say that their labour shall not be wasted! I don’t need to leave our Church from one location to another for donkey years. - The apostasy of the Church in the land: the raw gospel has been replaced. That is, you went to Church to hear God and what you hear is something else. One American came to our conference. Church Gist. At the end of the conference he said he was a small boy in the days of Oral Roberts and he went to the meetings. He said the only thing I can compare with what I am feeling here is what I felt then. So it means if I feel what I feel then, I have to come around here. He said most of those things that we felt and experienced in the days of Oral Roberts and Kenneth Hagin is very scarce now. You can step into service and by the end of the day you just got highly entertained, positively motivated – which is good. Church Gist. But the oppressed came and went with his oppression, the afflicted came and went with it, the drug addict came and returned to the drugs. Some places where they are pushing pseudo gospel. Tolerance for iniquity coated in some spiritual things.
If you go to Africa, if you see witch doctors, when you come around them you feel the devil. There are some African places where if you are passing you can’t look in that direction because of the dread and the terror of the devil. Church Gist. How come people come to Church and can’t feel God? If it is the house of God, there must be the feelable, tangible, audible presence of God. Something should remind you that you are right in the house of El-Shaddai where you can feel His presence, hear His voice and feel His manifestation. Church Gist. I am happy for the pastors that are here tonight; I congratulate you because something is already changing because when you get hold of the pastor, you get hold of the congregation, a generation.
Is there someone who is going to trust God along with me, that God will do something drastic, radical, unusual, impactful and something that will command the attention of a nation again?
The attack on the church in this nation is so amazing.
Someone will come say something today, tomorrow he says the opposite. What kind of rubbish devil is that? Confusing people and confusing a whole generation! Church Gist. When a man without direction is leading, he leads a generation in a directionless pathway.
Lord, do something for us again. Church Gist. Don’t just bring back those days, but the glory of the latter house must be greater than the glory of the former. Father, usher us into a dimension, a dimension of your help, a dimension of your mercy, a dimension of your grace that is meant for this generation. Will you not revive us again? It’s a cry, it’s a cry. And that is what we need to raise if we are going to see the move of God. Father, we raise a cry! Father, we need to see what we haven’t seen before. We need to see what is necessary… Jesus Christ is coming for a glorious church. A glorious church, sir. So the church is meant to be rapture in a blaze of glory. We are not meant to leave in defeat.
Where the antiChrist people and all the agenda of the enemy succeeded the church? Where the church is the minority? That is not what the Bible said. He’s going to rapture a glorious church. Church Gist. We are to teach principalities and powers the manifold wisdom of God, we are to trample the devil, defeat him, finish him and then when we are going, we say, “Bye, I’m happy to be free from you.”
Not a church like a dog with its tail in between its legs. And then moving about in defeat, silenced by the voice of the devil and his agents.
We need churches that will rise up in America with massive discipleship of a generation, that is not just good with tongues but church that you step in, you catch fire. If your prayer life was down, once you step in, you pray for hours.
If your worship life was down, once you step in, you want to worship for hours.
If your life is in compromise, you step in, your conscience will not allow you. A church on evangelism, a church with miracles, signs and wonders. A church without apology, without apologizing to nobody.
I’d like you to lift up your voice and let’s pray in the Spirit for the next 5 minutes, then we shall be through.
If the devil will succeed, it will not be under our watch. Church Gist. Never! If the generation before us handed the baton to us, it will be an abomination to drop it. It is time for the vision to become visible.
I was at the airport in Frankfurt, Germany. Young lady, I think she works with the Airport Control or Immigration. She just ran to me, “Dr Paul, Dr Paul is it you?” I said yes.
She wanted her picture taken with me. I obliged her. We landed at the airport in Houston here, a custom officer was just looking. I had passed and he was looking at my wife and everyone, and the person working with us thought he wanted to check the luggage. So, he said, “We are together.” The custom officer said, “No, that’s not why I’m looking at him. I watch him all the time. I just want to be sure if he’s the one.” My wife said, “Yes, he must be the one.” He responded, “Yes, I watch him dancing all the time.” So I said, “Can I dance it for you?” Custom officer, here in your airport. And I was dancing and he also started dancing. Right there. And she was recording
America is not bigger than us! America is not bigger than us! If something can happen in Nigeria, and somebody at the airport in Germany and another custom officer at the airport in Houston felt the impact of it, America is not bigger than us. America is not bigger than the church of God in this nation!
One more time, lift up your voice, Father we need revival! Will you not revive us again?
Open your Bibles or your iPads to 1 Samuel 12:6. Most times before God will do something, in a community or in a nation, He would do something in a person. Church Gist.
If God would bring America from the way it is now, some people must be advanced. That is the way you are, you can’t do it, you need to shift. ‘It is the Lord that advances…’ , many of us are trying to achieve some things where we are, at the level you are yourself you can’t do anything. I (the Lord) need to shift you.
In our country in those days, there’s something they call Teacher Training college and there is Advanced Teacher Training college. That advanced one places you on a level higher than this one. There’s something they call Ordinary Level and Advanced Level. A’ Levels.
Moses struggled to bring the children of Israel out when he had not yet advanced. He killed a person in the process. And he went back for 40 years and left the vision. Until God met him at the flame of the burning bush 40 years later and advanced him, shifted him, upgraded him. Upgraded his spirituality. Upgraded his mantle. Before then he had a stick, after he was advanced, it became the Rod of God.
-Lord, advance me!
For God to help Israel, He must advance Moses. If Moses failed to be advanced, Israel dies in defeat.
Father, advance me! Father, shift me! Shift me, shift something in my life! Shift me spiritually! Shift my level! Shift my mantle! Shift the oil in my life! Lord, I apply to be advanced!
What I just said now, is a whole message. At the level I am… You know bulldozer? What do they call it here? Is it the same? It’s like someone who is trying to do the work of a bulldozer using a lawnmower. And if you want to uproot that big tree, you can’t do it as lawnmower, I need to advance you. I need to shift your capacity.
-Father enlarge my capacity, shift my capacity to handle the assignment you have for me! In this nation, in my generation!
