OUR LIVES CAN ONLY CHANGE AT THE FREQUENCY OF THE LIGHT THAT IS AT OUR DISPOSAL.
OUR DOMINION ON EARTH IS AT THE MERCY OF THE SPIRIT OF REVELATION UNVEILING TO US OUR POSITION IN CHRIST.
NEVER TALK ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
GOD HAS ORDAINED THE BLESSED PRESENT DAY, NOT THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
TODAY SHOULD BE BETTER THAN YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW BETTER THAN TODAY
ALWAYS CALL ON THE ASSISTANCE OF THE HOLY GHOST AND YOU WILL SEE HIM MANIFESTING IN YOUR LIFE. IT IS THOSE THAT MAKE REQUESTS THAT RECEIVE DELIVERY.
Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr at July 2022 Week of Spiritual Emphasis, Day 2
Our Father, tonight we have come before you to give you glory and honour to you, to celebrate your faithfulness to thank you for what you have done. For the numerous works of your mighty hand in our midst, we say thank you. Church Gist. Tonight our eyes are on you again, we ask that by your word you will speak to each one of us. Your word will transform each one of our lives. We give you all the praise and glory because we know it is done already in Jesus name we have prayed.
Our teaching series for our midweek services is captioned UNDERSTANDING THE PERSON AND MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. In our adventure on earth, understanding is a virtue that must be sought at all costs. Proverbs 4:7. There is no treasure of redemption that can have appropriate value without understanding. Psalm 49:20. The beauty of all the packages of redemption is only as valuable as the depth of our understanding. That is why it is important for us to seek understanding concerning every subject that God has presented to us. More important is seeking understanding of the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit because He is a vital helper in our adventure on the earth. Church Gist. The values we are able to draw from His ministry are tied to the value of our understanding of His personality and ministry. That is why God is taking us all through this adventure in the course of this month to open the eyes of our understanding so we can see the beauty that is made available by the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Who is the Holy Spirit and what is His assignment? We will be looking at a number of things here tonight and I believe God that He will grant us light.
- The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of revelation.
John 14:26. In other words, the Holy Ghost is ordained to reveal to us all things because He is our illuminator. John 16:12-14. He has the capacity to teach the unteachable. He has the capacity to unveil mysteries that are not naturally inaccessible. He opens our eyes to see what we cannot naturally see and comprehend what we cannot naturally comprehend. 1 Corinthians 2:10-13. Even the things we are hearing, it will take the Holy Spirit to interpret them appropriately for us. He is the spiritual reek that gets us to the depths of God. Church Gist. Romans 11:33. It is not possible to extract the deposits in the depth of God without the Holy Spirit. It is not our rigour that gives us access to the light, it is the Holy Spirit that unveils the deep things of God to you and me.
Ephesians 1:17. Until revelation is available, our inheritance in the kingdom is inaccessible. Acts 20:32. The word of God is God’s treasure chest for our inheritance and it takes the spirit of God to open our eyes to what is loaded in the word for you and me. That is why it is important. The spirit of revelation is what opens our understanding and when He opens your eyes you can’t miss the light. Church Gist. The light enters you and shatters the hold of darkness giving you access to your inheritance. I pray that the spirit of revelation will show you what belongs to you.
Secondly, it is the revelation of the word that provokes the transformation of the life of the redeemed. Our lives can only change at the frequency of the light that is at our disposal. Romans 12:2. Every time there is a new light, your life takes a new turn. It brings about transformation, we are changed from one level to another by the ministry of the word. Our transformation is at the mercy of the spirit of revelation.
We discover that the revelation of the word is what provokes glorification of the saints. 2 Corinthians 3:18. When the spirit of revelation opens our eyes and transitions us from one level of glory to another, escaping the realm of shame. When you are on the earth, there is a force called gravity that pulls everything down but when you escape the atmosphere of the earth, gravity loses its hold. There are forces trying to cause shame but when revelation comes, it catapults you outside of the stratosphere of the hold of shame. You begin to go from one level of glory to another.
The Spirit of revelation is our access point to dominion on the earth. Psalm 89:5-7. Our dominion on the earth is at the mercy of the spirit of revelation. When His light shines in our direction, dominion shows forth in that area. God’s servant, our father told us how he was reading the book ‘The Apostle of Faith’ and he saw a testimony in that book and the spirit of revelation gave him the interpretation, when he read that Smith Wigglesworth had woken up by a sound in the night and went into his living room and saw a being with horns sitting on his rocking chair, rocking back and forth. He looked at it and hissed and went back to sleep, “I didn’t know it was you, the devil”. Church Gist. Suddenly by that, it was an interpretation of Ephesians 2:5&6, 1:21-22. That is the interpretation of the spirit of revelation and from that moment on, dominion became a practical experience. Our dominion is at the mercy of the spirit of revelation unveiling to us our position in Christ. That is why the spirit of revelation is so vital in our walk with Christ and this spirit of revelation is the Holy Spirit Himself. Ephesians 1:17. I pray that prayer that Paul prayed that God will grant unto you and to me the spirit of revelation.
- The Holy Spirit is the Lord of the Harvest.
Matthew 9:38. The word of God identifies who is referred to us as the Lord of the harvest. The Lord of the harvest from scripture clearly indicates the ministry of the Holy Spirit. That is his person, he is the one in charge of the harvest. When he came down in Acts 2 the immediate effect of His arrival was harvest. 3000 souls were added to the Church, by Acts 3, 5000 were added to the Church, and by Acts 5:14, multitudes of men and women were added to the Church. Church Gist. Acts 6:7. By Acts 13:44, almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of God. All of these are responses to the ministry of the Holy Spirit as Lord of the Harvest. He is the Lord of the harvest. You cannot talk about harvest without Him. From start to finish, Harvest is an operation of the Holy Ghost.
Why do we say so.?
He is the one that stirs up the labourers for the harvest. Haggai 1:14. He is the one that stirs up, He is the one that causes our heart to be kindled for the harvest. He is also the one that gives utterances to the labourers. Ephesians 6:19. He is the one that convicts the hearts of men that we come across. John 16:8-11. He is the one that converts the lost. John 3:3,6. He is the one that births the new creature inside of us. You can’t talk about harvest without the Holy Ghost, when He came down as a rushing mighty wind on Pentecost, suddenly multitudes were gathered together. Church Gist. Our efforts are barren without the Holy Ghost. He is the one that enables the harvest. That is why we call Him the Lord of the harvest.
He empowers our continuity in stewardship. Luke 22:28-29. It is continuity that makes our adventure in the kingdom profitable. Not just starting, continuing. 1 Corinthians 15:58. We were told yesterday to look for the sacrifice element in our engagement because your yesterday’s engagement must not be greater than today’s own. Who keeps us on this journey? It is the Holy Ghost. Acts 26:22. It takes the help of our helper to continue in our engagement. It will take the facilitation of the Holy Spirit. Philippians 2:13. We don’t have the physical capacity to maintain and sustain our fervency with Him. Isaiah 40:30-31. Church Gist. Their strength is not coming from themselves, it is coming from Him. He is the one that energizes our pursuit and our consistency. I pray tonight that the Spirit of God, the one who energizes continuity will breathe upon each one of us afresh tonight.
Mark 1:12. He is the one that keeps us driving. He drives us, he keeps us driving in His agenda. You can’t be consistent without Him, it is not by power. It is not by might, it is by the spirit, says the Lord. It will take the Holy Spirit to empower our consistency in stewardship. Lift your hand to heaven and say Holy Spirit I need your help. Our stewardship is demanded in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2. He is the one that keeps us consistent in our pursuit of God because it is at the end that it speaks. Church Gist. Those who cannot press to the end don’t get to the winning point. Habakkuk 3:2, Philippians 3:13. It will take a press to win the prize and the press must be consistent to the end. I see the Helper, the Holy Spirit Himself coming afresh upon each one of us energizing our consistency in serving Him.
God’s servant told us how he wrote that covenant to serve God in 1976, 46 years ago and from that time till date the Spirit is still driving him consistently, never having a better yesterday in serving God. Never talking about the good old days. Church Gist. God has ordained the blessed present-day, not the good old day. Today should be better than yesterday and tomorrow better than today. Our engagement should always be increasing in potency and productivity and it will take the Spirit of God to assist us.
- The Holy Spirit is our fountain of health and vitality.
Romans 8:11. The Spirit that cured death will not struggle with sickness, the one that cured death will not struggle with disease. If He was able to quicken Jesus and cause His kidney to come alive, cause his lungs to come alive, cause blood to flow into his body. If that same spirit dwells inside of you, He can cure cancer, He can destroy sickle cell, He can cure hepatitis. He will quicken your mortal body. If He could perform an immortal miracle, He will perform a mortal miracle. He will envelop you, He will quicken your system and energize the organs in your body and set you totally free. Somebody hearing me tonight, by the power of the Holy Ghost, every sickness and disease is healed in the name of Jesus. The fountain of health and vitality, that is the Holy Ghost. He is the Spirit of life. He enters into you and injects life into you. Church Gist. Genesis 2:7. By the breath, clay became a living soul. Who is the breath? The Holy Ghost. When He breathes upon you, He quickens your entire system and returns you back to how you were at creation. They may have told you that you have a defective organ at the time of birth but not at the time of creation. Creation was perfect. When the Holy Ghost quickens you, He quickens you back to creative order. He returns you back to health and vitality not just bringing you healing but back to health. He has ordained you to be in health. Not to be a medical experiment, not a specimen for training nurses and doctors. He has ordained you and me to maintain stability in health. For someone reading this, the last time you laid on a hospital bed will be the last forever. He brings us into health and causes us to live in health by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Not only does He bring us to health but also to vitality. That is you are living not as a weakling. There are people who are not sick but they are not strong. The entire system is weary and flabby. They get tired at every point in time. The Holy Ghost doesn’t only make you well, He makes you strong. When you see a person who is operating by the Holy Ghost, you will see usual energy beyond that which is natural. Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. What is the one that fuels the power of His might in us? Ephesians 3:16. Vitality is from inside. The Holy Spirit is the one that engages us and puts vitality in every one of us. Church Gist. One of our elders turned 84 yesterday. She is in CCU – Crowd Control Unit. She would hold hands with others from moving and she is 84 years old. When she gives you a handshake you will know that she is not an ordinary 84 years old. The grip is strong, you can see vitality oozing forth. That is not of the flesh, it comes from the inner man. You see her in all the services. She is sharp and continuously energized by the power of the Spirit. For someone here, no more weakness for you. The Holy Ghost will quicken your system with vitality from now on.
In order to enjoy this ministry of the Holy Ghost among others things, we must call on Him in prayer. We call for His assistance. Hebrews 4:12. Don’t read the Bible religiously, ask Him to open your eyes. Always call on His assistance. It is those that make requests that receive delivery. Continue to make requests. When you speak spirit-powered words, men cannot resist it. It penetrates their heart, breaks the concrete and causes them to respond to the gospel. So you don’t just go in the energy of the flesh. Lord empower my look, empower my tongue. As I speak, convict their hearts, and let every word apply to them. Church Gist. When you call on His assistance, you will see Him manifesting in your direction. You call on Him concerning your stewardship, grace for continuity. You hear people saying “when I was on campus, I was on fire” what is happening now? The best can not be in the past. The path of the just is supposed to be like a shining light, shining more and more.
Prayers: Lift your hands and thank God for the Holy Spirit.
