“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Mark 16:15.
It can be said that Reinhard Bonnke lived in obedience to this Scripture, following after the great mandate of our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the Gospel to the world and to every creature. The last evangelistic crusade by Reinhard Bonnke held in Lagos, Nigeria in the year 2017, marking his 50 years of service to God in Africa. The crusade had in attendance 1,700,000 people. Reinhard said at the start of his sermon
“Hallelujah, Jesus is the first one and last one in our lives. It was a great honour to have served 50 years in Africa and I can honestly say that we have seen the glory of God and the power of God shaking nations.”
He began his message by reading a text in Luke 20:19. In his manner of leading people to Christ, Reinhard shared a remarkable story, one which everyone need consider and view their lives through this perspective.
“I asked a young man, are you saved? Oh he was a clever little guy. And he said, I am 20 years old, in our country, life expectancy for men is 80, I still have 60 years to make up my mind. That moment the Holy Spirit spoke to me, I woke up and I said ‘listen, I have got some unpleasant news for you. Death is never ahead of us, the border to eternity is never ahead of us. The border to eternity is parallel to us and any one at any age may overstep it, young or old’ I said, ‘if I were you, I wouldn’t take the risk. The old must die and the young can die, that is why Scripture says now is the time of salvation’ Young people don’t wait, now is the time of salvation. We are all close to eternity. Just an accident and you can go that one step, you have to but you don’t need to. There’s an alternative, if you receive Jesus right now, call upon His name, call upon His name right now, you don’t go left, you take a step right, you will be in Heaven, you will be in the Kingdom of God. Take that step to Jesus, it has eternal consequences”.
Reinhard Bonnke may have gone to be with the Lord but his mantle and Barton of evangelism has been placed on another ‘Daniel Kolenda’ who continues that ministry.
Let us all strive to represent the Kingdom of God and ensure that by the grace of God, we don’t miss the Kingdom. This is throwing back to the good works of Reinhard Bonnke, God’s General.
