1 May 1981: Commencement of the 18-hour vision in which Bishop David Oyedepo received the Liberation Mandate from God.

On the first ‘May Day’ public holiday in Nigeria declared by President Shehu Shagari-1st day May 1981 which was to become ‘Workers Day’ all over the world and during a period of crisis between Ife and Modakeke, 26-year-old Brother David Oyedepo is reported to have gone to visit Pa S.G Elton as well as another friend in Ilesa, a town in the old Oyo State but ‘unfortunately’ missed the friend. He was disappointed, but said to himself ‘All things work together for good to them that love God’. At this point, he heard God say to him “Seek a quiet place; I want to talk to you”. David got a room at the ‘International Hotel Ilesa’, a cheap and rundown hotel. As he knelt to pray, he saw an open vision which lasted 18 hours. The open vision ended with the delivery of what came to be known as the ‘Liberation Mandate’.

1 May 1965: Reverend Paul Ebhomielen assumes duty as Secretary of the department of Missions and Evangelism of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

1 May 1873: David Livingstone, a missionary to Africa and geographical explorer passes on to glory aged 60 in the Kingdom of Kazembe, (today Northern Province, Zambia). David Livingstone was the first European to cross Africa from west to east and to discover the Zambesi River, the Victoria Falls and several major central African lakes.

1 May 1922:  The first brick of the Northwest Sixth and Burnside headquarters of the Apostolic Faith Mission, Portland, Oregon was laid by Raymond Crawford son of Mother Florence Crawford. Forty days later, 9 June 1922, Mother Florence Crawford leader of the Apostolic Faith organization laid the last brick.
