19th August 1850: Reverend Thomas Jefferson Bowen arrives Abeokuta where he spent 18 months studying the Yoruba Language and wrote a book on Yoruba Grammar. Rev. Bowen was an American Baptist Missionary to Nigeria.

19th August 1973: Yoido Full Gospel Church holds her inaugural worship service in the new 12,000-seater auditorium in Yoi Island.

19th August 2022: Mountain Top University holds a foundation laying ceremony for its proposed Elizabeth Olukoya Centre for Fine and Applied Arts. The stone laying was done by Pastor Shade Elizabeth Olukoya who the building is named after. Mountain Top University is a Nigerian Private University established by Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries.

19th August 1662: Blaise Pascal goes to be with the Lord. He was a French scientist and Christian apologist.

19th August 1843: Cyrus Ingerson Scofield is born in Michigan, USA. He was a theologian, minister and the creator of the Scofield Reference Bible.

19th August 1886: Richard G. Spurling, a Baptist minister, establishes the Christian Union in Tennessee. In 1923 the Organization took the name the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, a Pentecostal denomination that now has hundreds of thousands of members
