28th September 1983: The first Annual Holy Ghost Convention of Sword of the Spirit ministries begins at the Main Campus of University of Ilorin. The Convention was from the 28th September to 2nd October 1983. The 42nd Holy Ghost Convention held this year from 31st August to 8th September 2024.

28th September 1985: Dr. John marries Reverend (Mrs.) Clara Akpami. They are the Founders of Christian Teaching Centre Family Church, headquartered in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.

28 September 1987: Tony Rapu marries Nkoyo Bassey. The Couple met in Ibadan when she was just 16 and he was 20. They are the Senior Pastors of the House of Freedom, a group of ministries comprising This Present House, The Waterbrook and God Bless Nigeria Church.

28 September 1922: William J. Seymour passes on to glory. He was an African-American holiness preacher who initiated the Azusa Street Revival, an influential event in the rise of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements.
