29th September 1962: Pastor Elijah Ogundele Abina takes up Pastoral duty as Pastor In-charge of Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT). This was after he resigned his appointment in the secular work at Arbico Limited Apapa Lagos. GOFAMINT is a major Christian Denomination from Nigeria founded by Reuben Akinwalere George in Iwaya Yaba in 1956.

29th September 2016: Bishop Oyedepo returns from his 10 day missionary trip to USA. This was the first time he was absent from Canaanland on a Sunday in the year 2016, the first time since August 2013 and the 5th time since September 1999. This also marked his last international trip before God instructed him in 2017 never to leave Nigeria until instructed otherwise.

29th September 1854: William H. Clarke arrives Ijaye-Orile, Oyo State to join Reverend Thomas Jefferson Bowen. They were both Baptist Missionaries. Bowen planted the first Baptist Church and mission station in the area.

29th September 1951: Evan Roberts goes to be with the Lord. Evan John Roberts was a Welsh Evangelist who was a leading figure of the 1904 – 1905 Welsh revival.

29th September 1978: Pope John Paul I passes on to glory, three weeks after being elected, while reading a devotional in bed.
