7th January 2017: Pastor E.A. Adeboye stepped down from presiding over national affairs in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Nigeria. This was sequel to the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria’s directive in October 2016 that Not-For-Profit Organisations – including Churches and Mosques are to comply with a United National Corporate Governance Code stipulating a term of 20 years for leaders of such organizations. Pastor Adeboye had served as General Overseer for 35 years at the time of this directive. Pastor Joseph Obayemi was consequently named as the new National Overseer of RCCG. Pastor Sunday Akande is the current National Overseer of RCCG, Nigeria. Pastor E.A Adeboye remains as General Overseer purely over global/international affairs.

7th January 2005: Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo is granted the license to operate as a Private University in Nigeria by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC). ACU was pioneered by the Anglican Communion of Nigeria. Â
 7 January 1990: Christ the Redeemer’s Friends International (CRFI) was established by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. CRFI is an evangelistic effort to reach people at the top echelon of society with the message of the Gospel.Â
