January 26, 1970: Kirk Franklin is born. He was raised by his aunt after his mum abandoned him as a baby. Kirk Franklin in his teens drifted from his religious upbringing during which he got a girl pregnant and was consequently expelled from school. He, however, got back to God after witnessing his friend shot dead at the age of 15. Kirk Franklin grew to become an award winning Gospel singer and choir director with 16 Grammy awards amongst others.

January 26, 1976: Tyrone “Tye” Tribbett is born into a family of Gospel ministers, Bishop Thomas Tyrone and Neicy Tribbett and raised in an Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Camden. Tye Tribbett is an award winning Gospel singer, songwriter and choir director. He’s also the founder of Tye Tribbett and Greater Anointing, an award-winning gospel group. He, together with his wife, Shante, are resident pastors at the Live Church in Orlando Florida. USA

January 26, 1968: Pastor Chris Abraham is born. Pastor Chris served as a Pastor in the Living Faith Church and later founded the Kingdom Prevailers International Christian Centre (Prevailers Assembly), Abuja. Nigeria

January 26, 1859: Millionaire inventor of the reaper, Cyrus McCormick, marries Nettie Fowler, a devoted Christian. Following Cyrus’s death in 1884, Nettie used her enormous wealth to establish Chicago’s McCormick Theological Seminary and to support the work of D.L. Moody, John R. Mott, and countless missionaries to Asia.

January 26, 1906: The Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee), the oldest Pentecostal denomination, convenes its first General Assembly.
