UNBELIEVABLE TESTIMONIES OF THE MIRACLES OF GOD
– Pastor E. A. Adeboye on “UNCOMMON MIRACLES” at RCCG SEPTEMBER 2023 THANKSGIVING SERVICE || 3rd September, 2023
This morning we’ve been asked to discuss UNCOMMON MIRACLES. Church Gist. Acts 19:11-12.
– My prayer for you this morning is that God will give you uncommon miracles!
When they said that we are to discuss Uncommon Miracles, we see here 2 words: common and Miracles. Miracles being the noun, uncommon – the adjective. So the principal word here is Miracle. The word, “uncommon” is very very significant. Miracles I’m sure we know is divine intervention in the affairs of men. It simply means God controls the universe by certain laws like the law of gravity that says whatever goes up must come down and it is by that law that rivers flow down hill. Church Gist. It is the law that ensures that if you ordinarily try to walk on water you will sink. These are what happens when the law of gravity is in effect. But when God wants to perform a miracle, he suspends the law, comes in, do what he wants to do and then he restores the law. For example: when Jesus was walking in water, he suspended the law of gravity and when Peter jumped out of the boat, as long as he focused on Jesus, as long as he was connected to Jesus, the law of gravity was also suspended for him. But when he took his eyes off, the law of gravity shows that he can still be very active. So the poor fellow began to sink. But then, as soon as he got connected to Jesus Christ again when he cried for help, Jesus held him by the hand, the law became applicable to Peter also. If you read the story very well, both of them walked back to the boat. Church Gist. Jesus didn’t carry him, he just connected to him so that he can enjoy the same suspension of law of nature.
– So as many of you as are connected to Jesus Christ, you will enjoy miracles today!
The adjective, uncommon, suggests that miracles are in categories. There are miracles that whoever gave me this topic regards as common miracles. Miracles that are so plentiful that you don’t pay too much attention to them. For example: many of us don’t know that it is by a miracle of God that we breathe in and breathe out. Church Gist. You do it without thinking. Until Coro came when the enemy began to attack the ability to breathe. If you ask anybody who suffered from Coro, they will tell you it is a miracle to be able to breathe in and breathe out. Psalm 150:6. If you can breathe in and breathe out without stress then you can praise the Lord.
Another thing that many of us don’t consider to be a miracle at all will be ability to sleep. Many of us don’t know that it is a miracle that you can just jump on your bed and you fall asleep. There are millions of people all over the world who can’t sleep. Those who manufacture sleeping tablets is a billion dollar business. For some people they have to swallow all manner of sleeping pills and yet they cannot sleep for 3 hours. Church Gist. Psalm 127:2. Thank God there are some of us we can sleep almost standing up. People like me, many people don’t know that when I want to do a long prayer I go for a walk. They don’t know the reason. If I go on my knees and say I want to do all night prayer, ehn just wake up in the morning and discover. Those of you who can sleep anytime you want to let me hear you shout halleluyah!
There is something called waking up. Many of us don’t consider it as a miracle. Many of you don’t know that when you fall asleep, the enemies don’t want you to wake up. “Oh no Sir, I have no enemies.” If you’re a nobody then you might not have too many of them. But let me assure you: even Bartimaeus who was a beggar had enemies. Church Gist. He discovered the day he was crying to Jesus Christ for help that all of a sudden, everybody ganged up against him. There are people who hate you even for being poor not to talk of those who hate you for being rich. Some people hate you for being a beggar because they consider you a nuisance. So when you sleep they wish this fellow will just go.
I remember years ago when area boys were really terrorizing people in Lagos, somebody suggested, throw them into the Ocean. Thank God that we said no, we won’t do that rather we will take them, put them in a camp and see what the Almighty God can do. Church Gist. Today they have a big camp in Epe, we have more than 4,000 of them there and among them there are people who have been transformed so that they are now missionaries abroad. Lamentations 3:22-23. So you wake up in the morning, it is the mercy of God that woke you up. It is not everybody who slept yesterday that is awake today. If you slept yesterday and you’re awake today, that’s a miracle. May I hear you shout halleluyah!
There’s another common miracle – that is the ability to eat. Some of you say, no, that’s not a miracle. Oh, all you need to do is see some people who are extremely wealthy and they can’t eat. Ecclesiastes 5:19; Ecclesiastes 6:2. You may not believe me may be because you don’t have much money but there are wealthy people who can’t eat salt. Church Gist. Some of them can’t eat beef, they can buy a 100 cows but they dare not eat beef. There are wealthy people who cannot eat goat pepper soup, then there are some of us we don’t have the money but we can eat. People like me, I can eat anything from boli – (roasted plantain) to pounded yam any moment any time. Anybody like that here too? Let me hear you shout halleluyah!
They call these miracles ordinary. Come on, who wants to praise God because he can breathe, sleep? I met a man I’ve told you before, he had 14 houses in Ibadan but couldn’t sleep. He came to me and said, “I heard that if you pray for me I will be able to sleep. Church Gist. Pray so that I can begin to sleep like normal people and I will give you the 14 houses.” I said don’t worry yourself, give your life to Jesus, I will pray for you, you will be sleeping and you will keep your houses. I don’t want 14 houses if I can’t sleep; I prefer the ability to sleep.
Then we begin to consider miracles as above ordinary. That’s when we see people who are considered incurable being cured. That is a miracle. Church Gist. Mark 1:40-45. That fellow who had an incurable disease and got cured definitely will tell you: I received a miracle.
– I’m decreeing to you today: Everyone of you the doctors have said, we can’t handle your case, receive your healing!
When somebody who had been under the control of demons and when we are talking of demons – real ones and then all of a sudden you come across the Lord Jesus Christ and he took away the demons, you will know how to say, Thank you, because you will know you had a miracle. Church Gist. Mark 1:23-27. Under beautiful dresses there are a lot of things that are hidden. Anyone of you who has been coming under the bondage of satan you will be free today!
There are some miracles that you could call extraordinary and that is represented particularly when help comes in the nick of time. When you are desperately in need of help and the help comes, just in time so that you are not disgraced, embarrassed. Psalm 46:1; 1 Kings 17:8-16. Church Gist. Some of you here may not understand that at all. You don’t know what to be in a very tight corner, in a situation that unless God shows up immediately it will be too late. If God does show up then you will know you have had a miracle.
– I am praying for everyone of you in need of urgent help, before I finish preaching the help will come!
Occasionally I tell you some stories and some people wonder, “why do you keep repeating this story?” If you receive a miracle in the nick of time you can’t forget. Let me remind you of the time the Convention was on, the crowd had already gathered and we had trusted God and told everybody, come God will feed you, then all of a sudden, all money dried up and nobody knew that there was no money left in my pocket. Church Gist. Then my wife came in the morning and said, Darling, we will need #5,000 today. #5,000 of those days when the Naira was stronger than the Dollar. Don’t worry those days will return. I know you don’t believe me, if the Lord I serve is still on his throne, those glorious days will return. May be when that happens you will know that there is a God of miracles. I asked my wife, “when do you need it – today or now?” You know the meaning of that kind of question – nothing in the pocket. She said, what’s the difference between the two? A lot of difference. She said, today. “Okay, go.” I replied. What am I going to do, the crowd had gathered and I had no money? Almighty God you have to do something. It wasn’t long after that and one man came, driving past and saw all that was going on at the Camp and branched. He said, what’s going on here? We are having a Convention. He said, next year I will be part of it. We are talking of today and you are talking of next year. If God does not come through today who knows whether there will be a next year? Then he put his hand in the pocket, brought out an envelope and gave me. I prayed for him, he left, I opened the envelope – #1,000. I said, O God, one down, 4 to go. It wasn’t long after that the representatives of the youth came. Church Gist. I saw an envelope in the hand of their leader. Then the pastor began to preach, “Daddy we see all the good works you have been doing…” Give me the envelope and then you can preach later. Finally he gave me the envelope. I opened it, #2,000. Thank you. I blessed them, they left. I said, Father, 3 down, 2 to go. It wasn’t long after that I sent for my wife because other sources came. I could swagger and say, “by the way, how much did you say you need?”
– In the name of the one who called me, everyone of you in need of help, you will get that help today!
We now come to the topic of today: uncommon miracles. That is, miracles that are totally unusual. The Bible refers to it as special. God performed special miracles by the hands of Paul. Joshua 10:12-14. In case you think it is just a myth that the Sun stood still for almost a day, that it didn’t happen, no. Church Gist. When Science got to a stage that men wanted to send man to the Moon and they had to do some calculations. They discovered that a day is missing from the day the Sun and the Moon began to move. You know I did a little bit of Mathematics so we know a little about some of the things. They found a day missing in all calculations. Then they had to do some research and somebody who was not a Christian but at least had read the Bible remembered there’s a place where they said the Sun stood still for almost a day. So they went back to the time of Joshua, discovered that, oh yes there was a day just that it was not exactly 24 hours – 23 hours and 45 minutes. So there is still 15 minutes missing. The same fellow said, there seems to be the story of a king who was sick and God decided to heal him and he asked for a sign and God said I will let the Sun go back 15 degrees. Church Gist. They put the time then to the time of Joshua and got 24 hours and calculation became easy.
I am a scientist but I am also a child of God so I know the two. Joshua said to the Sun, don’t set until I finish my assignment.
– in the name that is above every other name, the Sun won’t set today until you get your breakthrough!
There are testimonies that are difficult to share. God can give you a miracle that you yourself will know: if I tell people that God did this for me, they won’t believe me. Church Gist. Miracles difficult to share. Genesis 21:5-7
– It doesn’t matter what science may say, a testimony that will be difficult to believe God is going to give it to you!
I have many of them. I gave a testimony when I was a lecturer at the University of Ilorin of something that happened to me. When I saw the way the people began to react, I decided that there are some testimonies I will just keep to myself.
I came to Lagos, parked my car somewhere in Surulere. Then I finished what I wanted to do and I went to my car, about to open the door. I have already put in the key, the door was open, I just wanted to move back so that the door can open and I felt a very big hand slammed me against my car. I mean the hand flattened me against the car. I was about to say, who did that? When all of a sudden, one car came round the corner, flashed past me, so close to me that I could feel the wind on my dress. Church Gist. If I had moved just one centimetre back, I won’t be here today. But when you tell people that kind of story you know what they will say, “a hand slammed you against your car? In Surulere? Is it during the day or night? Are you saying God came down from Heaven and with his mighty hand protected you from instant death? Or may be some angels are walking about?” They are telling you, “Sir, we don’t believe you.”
One young man shared a testimony sometimes ago, poor boy and knew they won’t believe him, when he said he got a phone call that his … (Someone had died) He told the brother, you can embalm her but don’t bury. I will be with you as soon as I can. I have the handkerchief that Daddy G. O. anointed. Church Gist. Before he could get permission from the place of work, by the time he got home I think in Port Harcourt or so, the sister had been dead for 11 days. He got there, carried the baby of the woman, went in and laid the handkerchief on the woman and said, “Hey, Mama, come back to life. Who is going to take care of your child?” Of course nothing happened. He said, well, at least I have exercised my faith. So he turned and the baby was crying. He turned towards the door and suddenly he heard a sound behind him. By the time he turned, sister was sitting up in bed. They didn’t believe him. Will you believe that kind of story? You will think it’s a prank but there are testimonies that are difficult to share.
– In the name that is above every other name, that kind of miracle that you have to think twice before you share, will begin to happen to you from today!
We are serving a God who can do wonders, can perform miracles upon miracles that you won’t even believe. With all humility, I know him. He’s my Daddy. I know what he can do. He can perform uncommon miracles. That a mathematician, an applied mathematician for that matter, because in mathematics you prove it, we believe it. Christianity says you believe it, we prove it. Church Gist. Mathematics and Christianity are parallel lines and they are not supposed to meet. But that God will go and grab an applied mathematician and bring him to a level where he could waves his hands and handkerchiefs will become anointed and the handkerchief will go and be performing miracles, I know him. I am telling you, he is here today about to perform uncommon miracles!
But he can only perform these miracles for those who are his own. Church Gist. That’s why those of you who are not children of God, you don’t know what you are missing.
Salvation Call:
If you want uncommon miracles in your life, you must surrender your life to Jesus.
Ask the Lord to have mercy on you, forgive your sins, wash you clean with His blood, save your soul, and make you His own. Promise Him you’ll serve Him for the rest of your life.
