Part A
Correction will not end as long as progress must continue. That word came from the heart of God. If you are not willing to be corrected, you are not a candidate for direction because this thing we call direction comes 75 per cent as instructions. It may not line up with what you want to do but that is what you must do if you must get to where He is taking you to. We have prayed for it, we have received it, we will abide by it. Proverbs 3:11. There is no ceiling on our destiny except the one you put on it. Church Gist. Light from heaven is ordained to move us forward, that is where we are going, we are all changing levels as we engage with this light from heaven. Lift up your two hands and thank God for the blessed word that we have received. The first and the second word, let us give God thanks for the light from heaven. The steps to take. No one goes forward sitting down, you go forward taking steps. The steps have been unveiled for forward movement, for advancement. Lord grace to take steps and keep taking them as a way of life, I receive in Jesus’ precious name.
Thank you heavenly Father for gathering us to yourself, may your ultimate purpose for this gathering be accomplished in everyone’s life in the name of Jesus. Church Gist. Thank you heavenly Father and blessed be your name. Speak to us again Lord and let your name be glorified in the name of Jesus Christ.
I am blessed to be hearing what I am hearing and seeing what I am seeing. We serve a good God, we serve a good God. Light is breaking forth on our part of the world by divine agenda not that we are smarter than those before us. It was not the fault of our forefathers that there were no mobile phones. Church Gist. It hasn’t come. So we have mobile phones and you can talk in every part of the world, it is a divine agenda coming to pass in our time. What a faithful God we serve. May no one miss His place in this great move that is coming upon the Church of Christ.
Where is God taking us? We are running the last day agenda so what we see is not skill, power or expertise, it is God’s word coming true in our times. Church Gist. May each one of us plug in to maximize our ordained portion in this move in the name of Jesus Christ.
UNVEILING THE TRIUMPH OF LIGHT. The dominion of light over darkness is instant and unquestionable. Light comes in, darkness flees without argument, without a roar, without a noise, Awesome God! That light shines in darkness and darkness hands off. It can’t resist it. Church Gist. There will never be an argument between darkness and light. Darkness has no place to stand for argument. May the dominion of light in this world of darkness begin to answer each one of us in increasing dimensions in the name of Jesus Christ.
We tried to look at some of the biblical proofs of access to the voice of God yesterday. This morning we start again by examining the horrors of spiritual deafness and how to identify the voice of the stranger so you don’t get trapped by his tricks. The devil is a trick master, the most subtle of all the animals God made. He has an unusual capacity for deception that could deceive the entire world. Revelation 12:9. He did that at Coro. Light came and blasted him so came with another version of Coro, he went back with all of them. Church Gist. The whole world was under the siege of His deception. To be deaf and blind is to be stranded and defeated in ministry. Spiritual blindness is likened to vision, being able to see where we belong and spiritual deafness is likened to revelation being able to hear God per time. Where no vision is the people perish. Isaiah 59:8, Proverbs 16:25. Without vision and direction, ministry is an adventure in frustration. No one here will experience frustration, stagnation and setback again in ministry. Jesus triumphed gloriously through His uncheckered ability to see and to hear. John 5:19-20. He was seeing what to do next. He was hearing how to go about it. John 17:18. So we are called with the blessing of seeing into God’s plan as they come in phases. It is not a one-time thing. He showed a bit of what He has in plan for us to take off and know where we are going, then He began to show more and more of the next thing to do. There was no Covenant University in the original vision. They were visions that came. So ministry is an adventure of visions and revelations of the Lord. Not ambition, not competition. I didn’t see rural churches in that vision, I didn’t even see church there oh. The hour has come to liberate the world so let’s go to the world. After some time He said “I am asking you also to partake of Church ministry. So visions and revelation, not ambition”, not competition. I know what He does, when He finds you faithful at one level, He moves you to the next and the next to the next.
Isaiah 42:20-25. Deafness will always come along with those catastrophes. He is sincere but he is not just in touch with God’s agenda for the moment so he is just struggling and sweating. You begin to suffer the fury of God’s anger. I learned a lesson from my car, it will give you a warning when you don’t put on your seatbelt and after three times, the police will pick you up any moment. After number 3, it will stop and hand you over to the police. Church Gist. Battles unending, without intelligence no ministry has any force. The force behind every military formation. “he set him on fire round about” and he didn’t know it and he didn’t bother to ask what is the reason for all these struggles Jesus? Where am I missing it? He never asked.
Let’s now check on some characteristics of the voice of the shepherd because most of the time, “God said! God said!” is so cheap to say so. We know what God says, the characteristics of what accompanies what God says. Church Gist. What is it that identifies the voice of the stranger? Remember there are two forces hovering around in the atmosphere – the voice of the shepherd (John 10:4), the voice of the stranger (John 10:5). Ephesians 2:2.
Now without going too far, the voice of the stranger is everything contrary to the voice of God. So everything that is not the voice of God represents the voice of strangers contrary to it. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. So he is opposed to anything of God. Church Gist. So if we know the characteristics of the voice of God, we can always know the voice of the stranger. They are just contrary to each other. If you don’t know that you will fall victim to his tricks. If you don’t know what the voice of a stranger curtails.
The voice of God stirs joy, the voice of the stranger stirs depression. It is depressing. Any sound that does not come with joy is not from God. Very sincerely, I thought I must be in the U.S. to catch fire from the fireplace because a mighty move of God was ongoing. I was a beneficiary just by visiting so if I had the privilege of staying there for two years, I will get equipped to fill my emptiness. Everything was in place and I was on the mountain in prayers just worshipping God and praying for the ministry. He said “my son, the thing you seek does not come from abroad but from above. Church Gist. You are going to No America”. We were already jubilating on the American thing in the powerhouse. I came down from the mountain and I told the people we are going to no America. This man is confused! No, it is a correction. I would have lost out perhaps forever. Maybe jumping from one place to another and doing ministry in one quarter away. You are going to no America. You can’t say why. Somebody told one of my sons well I got the green card but I lost the ministry. You miss it, you miss it, He is no respecter of persons.
I have had many public corrections. I thank God I did. There was no depression. There was no “oh my God! How will they see it?”. They can see and say anything. I said God said I am not going. Then we had this very serious one after we had done the commissioning service and prayers were made, we were going on our way to Jos and I went to thank Him, not to fight Him. He said it was not me you heard about going to Jos. After it had been announced in a public service. He said remember when you were playing table tennis in Jos along Jenta area in 1974, you desired in your heart that if you had a choice of where to live in future, it will be Jos. Church Gist. That was what you heard not me. So I said what do we do now? He said stay here. Every correction is to secure the future He has for you. Any regret that we didn’t go to Jos? Zero. Any depression that we are not going? Zero. In case you don’t know, we have had people in Jos for about one year before He said we are not going.
Now, the voice of the Spirit of God gives peace. It is accompanied with peace. The voice of the stranger is saddled with restlessness. If permitted ”peacelessness”. You are so apprehensive. When the devil speaks, he keeps you on that apprehensive platform. We are not unaware of the devil’s devices lest he should take advantage of us. Whatever makes you restless is not the voice of the Shepherd. When God said it is time to get the aircraft, I wasn’t restless. Church Gist. It was not that we kept money somewhere. We don’t even know the price but I wasn’t restless, I wasn’t apprehensive. Nothing. When God said He will dedicate this sanctuary in one year, the mammoth project was technically impossible but I wasn’t restless. There was one night I stood up and my wife said okay, why don’t you take a rest. I was reading, I was writing, books were coming out. Whatever makes you restless is not from God. If you are restless, it is not God. Psalm 85:8.
The voice of God is accompanied by a refreshing. Isaiah 28:9-12. His voice comes with refreshing. Big things won’t tell on your face. Great things but you can’t feel it. Somebody asked me “Brother David do you ever have any problems? I said maybe it came and I didn’t know. It always comes along with refreshing. Church Gist. So when it is ‘defreshing’, it is not from God. Everybody knows that you heard from God. What happened? It is the burden of the Lord. The burden of the Lord you shall say no more. God’s words don’t come with a burden but the devil’s words always come with something to bear. The devil is been exposed this morning. You will not suffer any inner tension. His voice triggers inner tension. All the cells are jamming.
The voice of the Lord strengthens but the voice of the stranger weakens. You hear a word and your system just goes down, it is not Him. While the voice of the Lord makes bold, the stranger’s voice torments with fear. 1 Timothy 1:7. I am afraid! Afraid of what? When God speaks, fear dies. The voice of the stranger always torments with fear. “as terrible as Ota witches” was a common proverb back here but by the voice of the Lord I have walked through this forest in the night. God is here. I feel God here was always my response when I went back home. When you see fear from the word of the Lord, leave it. It is not from God.
Other characteristics of the voice of the stranger include
- He is deceptive. He challenges things you have believed that have worked. Has God said you shall not eat on every foot of the tree? He is just twisting it. The things you have worked with that have added value to your life and ministry, he wants to challenge it. Church Gist. He rushed against the ministry of the anointing oil like a roaring sea. All his agents just gave up, they started buying drums of oil. He showed me, I saw its effect. 2 Corinthians 2:3. His voice depresses.
- The voice of the stranger is oppressive. “If you don’t do that now, you will die”. That’s oppression. That is not God. It wants to force its way on you. God doesn’t force us into anything. He leaves you to make a choice. Saul said I forced myself and I offered a sacrifice. He lost his kingdom. He is always forceful. Revelation 3:20. If you open, I will come in. I won’t fight or force you. Deuteronomy 30:19. Church Gist. But he wants to force his way on you. Delilah forced her way into Samson’s life and destroyed it. There is nothing God has ever told me that He forced me to do. I choose to because I know it is for my good. He corrects me and I accept it with smiles. Whatever that does to my image, I don’t have any image but His image. God never forces a calling on anybody. So we should stop posing and saying “if not that God called me, I know what I will be doing now”.
- His voice triggers unbelief, they call it the evil heart of unbelief. It triggers you to disbelieve what God has put in place to enhance your adventure on earth. Church Gist. You just turned, you are not the one speaking, it is the voice of the stranger tormenting you.
- The voice of the stranger is disorderly. He doesn’t believe in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40. Church Gist. So whatever sparks rebellion is not of God. It is the sin of witchcraft. It has the devil at the root of it.
- He stirs confusion. God is not the author of confusion, so when there is confusion in whatever way, it should be checked.
We can see from all that is listed above that most of us in ministry are simply victims of following the voice of the stranger. My prayer is that we will become permanently sensitive and not be trapped by the voice of the stranger.
Now let me share with you some of my experiences with the voice of the stranger. You can’t buy experience in the market, you have to experience it but somebody’s experience can cause you an escape.
The stranger came to me with a succulent word that looks like from God. “you are sent to your world, don’t die in your ward”. That looks like trying to interpret the mandate. The hour has come to liberate the world, what are you doing in a church? Isn’t that subtle? Church Gist. So I called a number of our pastors, we were very few then. I said you can all go with your churches. I have been sent to the world. As if I just knew. Schemer devil. God’s agenda is to give expression to this mandate from a church base. He rescued me, He will rescue you.
Now before then, in 1986, we were in Kaduna. I had drawn an agenda on a board in my office. He said remove that thing. Why Sir? He said that is not my plan. I had a plan for 1986 to be travelling to everywhere I should go to, week by week was all planned out. He said remove that thing. So I went and removed it. Church Gist. He said you shall take root downwards before you bear fruit upwards. So the agenda for the year cancelled. Church took a new form. He is always hunting with his schemes to rob us of the next place.
Now one like it, in 1993 there was that voice of the stranger cane with the same thing that happened in that 1986. It is time to go, it is time to go. God had an agenda for 1994 and I had no idea. It was so hot, it was so depressing, the normal joy that comes along with God saying something to me was not there. It was look, I have read this, I must follow it. Wait a while and I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people out. That is all I heard. The stranger was tormenting me to check out of God’s next agenda. We stepped into 1994, I got rescued on the 31st of December. Church Gist. The voice of the Shepherd ”as for thee also, thou shall stand here by me and I will teach you all things and you shall teach them from one base. We stepped into 1994 and the church skyrocketed to 10,000 from barely 3,000. I am sure the people will remember those events and then to 19,000 and then to 33,000 after just five years of fire including the mosque opening up to us to sit down. The mosque in the area, the Imam said people are too many outside, come inside here. He just rescued me from missing His next plan. You know I have my plan and He has His plan. May you be willing to dump your plan whenever He shows you His plan.
From now don’t go into anything mournfully, it won’t be God. Don’t go in doubt. Should I go or should I not go? Hear the word go from the voice of the shepherd and know whether it is the voice of the shepherd or the stranger by putting these barometers to work. No one will miss it. We are in for the best time. For the first word, we will always need to be guided, we will always need to be corrected because we are liable to error. The reason we have the Master is because we are His students and we are liable to error but knowing a few of these things will help us to outsmart him. Church Gist. If this is God, where is my victory? If this is God where is my joy? If this is God why am I so confused? If this is God why is this inner tension there? The cure is to be spiritual. Do you want to be sure? Be spiritual, walk in the spirit. If you want to be certain, stay spiritual. Be one that is committed to working in the spirit.
No amount of time will make a wrong direction become right. So taking correction is the answer. Again my prayer is that no one shall become a victim of the voice of the stranger. From this time on, it will be clear that your shepherd is the one you are following in the name of Jesus Christ. So following the stranger brings about strange order of challenges but following the voice of the shepherd, you shall not want. Church Gist. Goodness and mercy shall be following you. Though you pass through the valley of the shadow of death, you shall not be afraid. I see all of us changing levels by sensitively following the voice of the Shepherd. No one will be trapped anymore. It shall be the dawning of a new day for every one of us.
We have a syndrome here that I want to address, we should be more bothered about what God wants us to do not what we want to become. It is the cheapest way to be prey to the voice of the stranger. Jesus came on a mission. Our mission should be the focus in seeking direction. What would you have me do? It is doing what we are called to do that makes us become what we are entitled to or what He deems us to have. Instead of seeking to be great, seek to be obedient. Seek to be dedicated. Seek to always follow His directions, enjoy His corrections and embrace His reproach. Stop minding what to become, mind what to do. Stop minding what to become, mind what to do. Many are in ministry today to become, just to become and they never come. When you find your way into what to do, He knows what to do with you. Stay on what to do, leave Him to take care of what to become. Have I ever prayed to be great? Never! To do what with? But Lord save the souls, establish them in the faith. Mark us ready for heaven. Have I ever prayed to be known? Never! Be known by who? He knows me. I know my sheep and my sheep knows me. That’s all you need. It is a syndrome of this present generation. Church Gist. The impact he is looking for in ministry is to become like A and B and C. He spends all his life trying to become someone else. In the previous name of Jesus, this trick of the wicked will not lay hold on any of us. That little flock has the potential of becoming a kingdom if you know what He wants you to do and you are dedicated to doing it. The honour that lasts comes from the Father. It is not from our desire. It is from the Father. No one can make himself. He said to Abraham, I will make you great. Who will? God! You can’t make yourself great. 1 Chronicles 12:22. It is in the hand of God that make great. Let’s stop trying to make ourselves great, let the Maker who made us at the beginning make us into next levels. Zephaniah 3:19-20. He is the maker. Stop chasing after the shadows, He is the maker. Nobody can make Himself. Church Gist. You don’t become great because you desire to be great, He makes it happen when He deems you fit. You can’t pray and fast into greatness, forget it. Can I lay hand on my son and decree he becomes a pilot? Then he goes to the plane and sees the chariots of Elijah. Can I impact my beloved son and say, now you are a medical doctor? Surgeon, then he buys a stethoscope. If the police catch you. He makes great and it is in phases. Don’t kill yourself because of someone else’s phase. Enjoy your phase. We are all works in progress. 2 Timothy 2:21. There is what to do to change level, it is not waiting for it. It is getting to know what to do and doing it. Don’t let that be your goal, let your goal be getting to know His will and doing it. He came to give not to get.
John 10:10. So He became what He became because He came and did what He was sent to do. He did that at a very gruesome cost and she where God lifted Him to!

Embrace this platform, embrace it! I once said to a member here, “If I were still riding my ‘Beetle’, I wouldn’t have been any less committed! Ask God when you meet Him. Church Gist. I’m not serving God because I am riding a car, No! I’m doing His Will! That’s my sense of fulfillment!
Don’t get to someone’s house and there is no deep freezer and then, you can’t sleep, do you want to sleep in the deep freezer? When we got married, there was no television, that’s why I don’t know how to operate it up until now. By the time I got money to buy television, I have lost touch with how to turn it on. Glory to God!
It is not about what you have, it is where you stand! So locate a place in God’s agenda and commit to it, don’t let those things distract your attention. Church Gist. Praise God!
No one serves God in vain!
He knows what to make of you and me as He deems fit! This inordinate ambition should go! You know why some Churches do not grow, they will abuse the growth! Because it is only five hundred people now and nobody can reach him.
They will brag and say, “Can I have a glass of orange juice as I preach? And put some iced stuff in there”
And then the security will be too much, Abi? What for? I stopped one security car that was driving after me on the camp. I said, “No! I don’t have a problem on this camp, who is attacking me?” but they are doing their duty. Church Gist. But I still sent them back! Don’t make me feel insecure! So there is nothing wrong with me! Praise God!
There are few devils in the world that devil is sending to go and meet me. Church Gist. And the other one will say, “You too go!” you think that we don’t have sense, you too go! Praise God! Halleluyah!
-Prayer: Somebody’s story is changing!
Lo! I come, to do Thy Will Oh! God! In the volume of books written about me to do Thy Will! That was a Messaic cry in His Rescue Mission for mankind-To do Thy Will!
I conclude, blessed is the man that feareth the Lord that delights in His commandment, his seed also shall be blessed on the earth, the generation of the upright shall be blessed Psalm 112:1-3.
We were chatting yesterday on those two families, one atheist. Benjamin Franklin, the generation was just blessed all through! And the aethist generation was horrible, prisoners, prostitutes in their number over a period of 150 years, they traced it.
-Prayer: So your quality work will impact on your children and generation today! Amen!
The prosperity that you are working in, under this covenant, my God! Will pass unto generations after you!
As Benjamin Franklin’s family were, you know, just men! Even in the days of their Colleges- all through the lineage, that’s what your lineage will be! Amen! Church Gist. So walking with God doesn’t stop with you! So ensure that the quality of your walk with God!
It will tell on your generations after you! He said, “Wealth and riches shall be in his house!” The generation of the righteous shall be blessed; his righteousness shall know no imprisonment! Walking with God qualitatively and delightsomely, you are not being coerced! You are serving your God!
-Prayer: That will be the experience of every one of us in the Name of Jesus! And you know, it’s already happening. Church Gist. Before now, you find that the children of Ministers are always on the other side- the wrong side of life. But that has changed tremendously!
Common give the Lord the praise! It is also pointing to the fact that our generation will start walking under a new covenant of that we have procured for them by our quality walk with God.
-Prayer: No pauper shall be named in your lineage! You have fed the poor, none shall be called ‘poor’ in your lineage, you have wiped away tears from many, and none shall live with sorrow in your lineage!

So one can be serving God and be dying of hunger, thirst and nakedness! God is not taskmaster, He is a Loving Father! So show your love with your delight at all times and watch how that will impact on your generation after you.

Can I make this statement by the Supplies of Grace, I’ve never prayed for a house, Oh! Lord, my God, all my peers have build houses, build me one! Won’t they be laughing at me to scorn? The engine is not in front of the car, it is behind! So the front is light. And I said. “Lord, if we just have a car that has engine in front, we will not need to slow down and we will gain speed when we are going somewhere”. I got home and met a car! I said, “Lord, how do you wait for someone to pray before you answer!”- Church Gist. I just thought it and He brought it!
-Prayer: Watch out for additions of Favour without hassle! Favour without hassle!!!!
You are building a house and every part of your body is stressed, what kind of a house is that? Church Gist. You can be cheaply tempted- divert God’s money to build a personal estate! When it is your turn, He makes all things beautiful!
-Prayer: No more stress on your life!
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all these things that people are dying for shall be added unto you by My Favour! Church Gist. Matthew 6:33. Those who seek God’s Kingdom first, are the candidates of Favour!
-Prayer: From now, what the labour of fifteen years cannot deliver in your life, God’s Favour will bring it in one hour, Amen! So shall it be!

Every man speaks according to how much He carries. You want to do something for someone, it is from the much that you have, so when God unleashes His plans, He will say, “Hey, this My Plan, I will work out to see it come to pass!’

Somebody who was not here when we digged the foundation, but he was the first person to appear, he said that he saw the clip, and he asked the Lord, “What do you want me to do?”- a million dollars! -Prayer: Therefore, from now, the temptation to borrow on God’s behalf will never know the road in your life again!
If you find the son of the President on the street borrowing, something has gone wrong! No!!
-Prayer: therefore, in the Name of Jesus, anyone indebted in any form, I pray for God’s Mercy to bail such an individual out! Church Gist. And from this moment upwards, borrowing shall not be part of your life anymore!
We didn’t do this, and we didn’t have the capacity of it. He did it! He declared it and He was set to deliver it! He is an Awesome God! We have such palaces today, across the nations. Church Gist. You walk around and you see Churches with you know? 100 acres of properties. We didn’t know that before! No! One plot two plot! No parking lot, nobody is coming to park anything here!- that was the Church that we knew!
But by His Agenda, things have changed! And now, you have Sanctuaries coming up like palaces. That Kings will come and say,” What! Is this? Church Gist. Other ones are springing up in their numbers! Not in terms of volume alone, but in terms of quality! In terms of space! People will not now know where to park because of the Blessing of God!
-Prayer: in the Precious Name of Jesus, no one among us shall miss out on this wave! Amen! So where you are now, is not your rest! He is taking you somewhere!
Someone was saying after Faith Tabernacle, “Don’t think that it is the last one oo”. I don’t know what the last one will be oo, but it is too early to be the last one! So where you are now is too early to be the last one! I know that you are checking everything! You were checking the flowers! The best you can say is that, “This is where we were”! Church Gist. Because you are still going to the next phase of enlargement! Is it the last one that we are going to do here! No! I don’t think so! No it can’t be the last Sanctuary!
-Prayer: But you who is here, you will exceed that! Don’t let your heart break; it is the Word of God! Amen! Praise God!
Watch! You won’t just watch, they will also be watching you! Because what you have never imagined, I didn’t imagine this! But I know that the path of the just man is as a shining Light that shines more and more and more unto the perfect day!
When we were dedicating the Glory Dome at Abuja, God has not given the go ahead of this! Hold it and don’t talk any more on it! God said, “Quiet, until I need you to!”. Amen! And what God is doing for us in Port Harcourt! Church Gist. You will be finding that here and there in their numbers in this last day! So enjoy the 200 capacity where you are and be faithful, He will soon turn it into a thousand!
Enjoy the thousands, it will soon become tens of thousands! it is all the way God works! This is not come and see what we are doing, see what God is doing! We have no capacity for it, but see what the Lord is doing! It is the same God that we serve; it is the same God that called us, therefore in the name of Jesus! The world will soon begin to come and see what the Lord is doing! Amen!
Get the ‘I’ out of the way, “I did!’ because God does not share His Glory with any man. But where God is taking you to, there is no mortal man that has the resources to back it up! Church Gist. So you better know God! And connect with what He is doing.

So build your Faith to march the next phase of your life! Build it! Get Faith materials, fire yourself inside! Watch God just step in as you walk in the covenant!
