So, scriptures are for our profitting, they’re for our what? Our profitting. All scriptures is given by inspiration of God and is for our profitting. Now Jesus speaking, he made a statement, he said, “I must work the work of He that sent me”. John 9:4. He said, “I must”, that means, it’s not optional, it was, “I must be committed to the assignment given to me”, that was what Jesus said, John 9:4. Church Gist. If you’re not committed to your assignment, you may live like a man in asylum. He said, “I must be committed to what has been given to me”. Jesus worked, the Messiah worked for things to work. He was committed to that which was handed over to Him. John 5:17.
Many are not committed to their assignment, yet they want to get something out of what God has asked them to do. Commitment is willingness to employ the required forces towards a set goal. Church Gist. Commitment simply means to work intelligently. I don’t like using ‘hardwork’, I don’t like using that word, ‘to work hard’, hard is one kind. It’s to work intelligent work. You can work hard and not be intelligent, drug pushers, they work hard but they’re very dull. You know one set of dullest people? Church Gist. All the young men, listen, in this church, don’t drive too long. If you’re driving bolt, do it for a while, don’t stay too long. Driving affects mentality, it brings residual knowledge, driving makes you dull. I met an Ethiopian in United States, in Atlanta and he said to me, “Sir, you’re a Nigerian?”, I said, “yes, I’m a preacher”. He said, “Nigerians are very hardworking”, I said, “why do you say so?”, He said, “they’ll come to America, they will follow us to drive but after one year, they’ll leave driving”. If you go to America, almost all the drivers are from Asia and Ethiopia. He said, “we, we’ll be driving, our children will come and join us to drive”, they don’t leave driving and driving makes you dull. Have you ever seen any intelligent driver? Not one. Church Gist. Ask me why? You know why? It doesn’t challenge your mind. You come in the morning, you turn on the key, you say, “sir, where are you going?” You carry the person. The mind, when you don’t put it to use, before you know it, it’ll start dropping. That’s why gatekeepers and drivers are very dull. Any job that you’re doing that you keep doing that as a routine work, you’ll be very dull. All you do is to enter motor, “where are you going?” Church Gist. You carry the person, you come back. You think you’re helping yourself? You brain is rotting away. So if you drive for one year, go to something else.
So, you and I must be committed in whatever we’re doing.
