Ask God to give you the grace to know Him.
Father, we give you the praise, in the name of Jesus. Father, breathe upon this assembly today, touch somebody’s life, let not one person who came here return the way they came.
Father, we honour and adore you, be glorified Lord, in Jesus precious name.
I’m speaking this morning briefly on the subject: THE CHARACTER OF TRUTH (SINCERITY).
Our objective in this teaching is to understand our calling unto truth, also to understand the manifestations of untruth, insincerity or falsehood and lastly, the profit of truth or sincerity.
Psalm 119:128. The teaching will be a bit mighty, it will not be too palatable but the truth is not palatable.
The Bible makes the following clear;
- The God we serve is a God of truth. Exodus 34:6. Our God is abundant in truth. Isaiah 65:16.
- Jesus Christ is the truth and teaches the way of God in truth. John 14:6.
- The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. John 14:16-17.
- Children of God are called to walk in the truth. 2nd John 1:4.
- Satan the devil is the father of lies. John 8:44. How many of you have met people that do not have an atom of truth in them, I have met many people like that. ChurchGist. There is one in particular, if he says 10 things, 11 are lies. Do you know the meaning of that? 11 are lies because the next one he will say will definitely be a lie. He is Satan incarnate, devil’s junior brother.
- The destiny of all liars is the eternal flames of hell. Revelation 21:8. May God help us never to be found there in the name of Jesus Christ.
We live in a world that is choked with many things. So many things have become normal, there are times we don’t know what is wrong anymore.
WHAT ARE THE MANIFESTATIONS OF UNTRUTH, INSINCERITY OR FALSEHOOD.
- OUTRIGHT LIES.
This is where a person calls white black and calls black white, he tells stories that are not true. ChurchGist. I’ve told you how I sat in an aircraft sometime ago in Abuja, I think we were going to Lagos and a man sat close to us and he was answering a phone call. Yes! I’m right now in Lagos. The manifestation of outright lies.
In the University, in those days, I prayed for a man, he said no matter how he tries, if he opens his mouth, he must lie, he tells lies randomly. ChurchGist. There are those who live a life today just lying. I came to your house yesterday. When? What time? I’m just joking. Really!
I have paid for that and that for you. Really! No, I’m just playing.
- MISINFORMATION
This is the deliberate release of wrong or false information, untrue information. This is plenty in this internet age, fabrication, where people will just fabricate things on the air and push it out on social media. There is no single shred of truth in it. We’ve seen pictures online and they say such and such happened in so and so place to some of our members, I’d say please do a fact check of this information. They would do a fact check and they will say this particular thing truly happened but it’s not in 2022, it happened in the year 2015, in this particular Country, this is how it happened. This picture that is being presented as a recent happening in Nigeria, happened in 2015, somewhere else. But somebody picked it up and brushed it up and he’s pushing it out with nonsense propaganda. Majority of things that are pushed out on the internet as information most times are outright misinformation, there are those who are specialists in that, it is their jobs. To lie like their father the devil and deceive the world. ChurchGist. So, before you push anything that is pushed to you, find out whether it is true. So, that you’re not found to be pushing lies.
You’re not a part of advertising falsehood, saturating and disseminating misinformation. This is the age that we are now, there are people who live with it. This also includes half truth, once they know an information will be beneficial to somebody, they don’t give it to them.
This is coming to my mind very strongly, I have seen young men who promised women marriage, as they are talking, they know that they’re lying and unfortunately some sisters like very unreal things. The guy is saying; I’m just coming from America, whereas he has not gone to Onitsha. I wanted to go sell a house in Dubai, of which he has not bought a room anywhere.
- I pray that the Lord will give us in this generation, the Spirit of Discernment. So that we can be delivered from the agent of darkness.
There are some people, as they’re talking to you, they are giving a promise they know they will never fulfil, they have no intention to fulfil it. It’s possible for one reason or the other to make a promise and not keep it. It is possible, but when you have the habit of deliberately breaking promises you have a problem with lying, it’s a problem.
- FALSIFICATION OF RESULT/ FALSE CERTIFICATE/ CERTIFICATE ACQUIRED BY MALPRACTICE.
Many people have gone into the University with a certificate they did not deserve, exams they never wrote. Very terrible! It’s a foundation that can hunt them for life. There are people who have used other people’s names to go to school, some used other people’s details to get into Nigeria military, civil defence, they wangled their way, these people have a way of having crises throughout their career, because when the foundation is destroyed what can the righteous do. In Nigeria today, there are so many people who have certificates and documents that are not more valuable than a tissue paper, because of how useless it is. ChurchGist. A woman was telling me a story of how her daughter had finished secondary school and it was time to go into the University and then she went to one of the Universities, a private one, she had good grades and everything, she didn’t write the JAMB of that year. They said the grades are good but you need a JAMB result.
She said I don’t have the JAMB for this year but I wrote the exam a year ago. So, they said alright, let’s see what can be done and then somebody picked up the JAMB result that is not current and began to adjust the date and to try to see if the admission can work. When the woman saw it, she said; No! It’s not this kind of admission I am looking for, my daughter is still young, she will remain at home for one year and write the next JAMB. ChurchGist. I said to her; congratulations, you’re hearing well. Otherwise, you would have laid the foundation of the little girl on calamity. Anything God cannot give you; you don’t need it, anything truth can’t give you; you don’t need it. But there is nothing God cannot give you.
- I pray and prophesy to you today, a change of story is coming your way.
Somebody got his brother’s result, an excellent result, A1, B2. He then went into medical school; you can go to medical school with somebody’s result but can you study medicine with somebody’s brain. The first year, problem, the second year, problem, the third year, problem. ChurchGist. He’s just encountering challenges all the way. Beloved! These things are very necessary for us to know because of our life on earth.
- FALSE MEASURES/ FALSE WEIGHTS/ FALSE BALANCES.
Deceptive measuring standards that people use in business. You thought you were buying a basket full of tomatoes, not knowing that under the basket are stones and they quickly pour it for you without allowing you to see what is under. How many of you understand what I’m talking about? And you have some very ripe and juicy ones on top and very dry ones under it, the same thing with potatoes and all these kinds of things. ChurchGist. You’re buying petrol and you thought you were buying the equivalent petrol of #2,000 not knowing that #1,000 petrol was sold for you because the metre was so adjusted, so it’s running so fast, before you know it your money has finished. These are the kind of things that people do, just so that their profit can be much. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul.
Somebody was saying the other day, from Nigeria here, they took crude oil to a port outside the Country, what was measured here as the amount that was taken is different from the quantity the people received there. ChurchGist. What was measured here was may be 50 per cent lower than what was discharged there, so the difference in the amount went into somebody’s pocket.
How many people have ever gone to eternity with 1 billion dollars, let say they were buried with the money and they carried it with them to go and bribe God (a Judge that cannot be bribed). You carry it and go to God and say to God I have come, please let me come in, He’s a Judge that cannot be bribed, you can bribe men but can you bribe God? ChurchGist. All the billionaires in the Bible were not crooked to be rich. Abraham said; I will not take anything that is yours, in case you say I’m the one that made Abraham rich.
The Bible says concerning Job, he was an upright man, a man who eschewed evil and he became the greatest man of the east. Jacob said I’ve not taken anything that is yours, that was how those people of the old succeeded and exploded. Beloved, we don’t need to go the bad route, go through the good route. What God cannot give you; you don’t need. ChurchGist. Where God cannot take you; you don’t have to go there and what God cannot do, let it remain undone.
- CHEATING/ OUTRIGHT FRAUD.
Where people fraudulently profit from others, unlawful profit from others by trickery. Through tricks, they profit from others unlawfully. ChurchGist. You did business with them, they cheated you without you noticing, they asked you to take some staff members to the UK, the travel allowance they gave to them, you divided it into two and pocketed the other one, even those who didn’t travel you said they travel.
I have heard of one of the organizations who told staff members that they travelled, that means he collected all the money. What can it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul. ChurchGist. Somebody said you should help him build a house, you built the house for 25 million and he paid you 55 million, he said you should build it for him directly, it is not a contract, he’s giving you money directly by direct labour, by the time you finish a part, he will pay you. Yet, you cheated him, you built the house for 25 million, you told him 55 million and he even appreciated you with another 10 million, not knowing that you’ve cheated him, people live as if they don’t have a heart.
A member of this Church told me how somebody sent him money to buy him a property, a land and the person had already bargained the land. So, he gave the guy money to buy him the property. The guy bargained the property further, he ended up buying it for 15 million less. The guy called the man and said excuse me sir, you have a change of 15 million with me, the man said what! The guy said; yes, I further negotiated and I got it 15 million less. The man said I’m coming, and before he could realize it, he had sent the money to him. ChurchGist. Wow! People like this still exist. Alright I’m sending you this and beyond that me and you, we are hooked for life, whatever I need to do, you will do it for me. That’s how life is supposed to be. That 15 million can block your 15 billion that is to come in the future.
Outright cheating! And people are so expert in this. You can never increase by reducing another person. Nobody will ever be able to increase in life by reducing another person. You know the corruption problem in Nigeria is both a problem of leadership and followership. It takes corrupt followership to encourage the existence of corrupt leadership. He pays you to vote for him and you collected his occultic and evil money. ChurchGist. Otherwise, if you know you have what to deliver, why should you pay people to vote for you? It’s only because you’re a liability, a retired and expired cargo. Someone who will be good for nothing, you can’t rule your life, a man with a mentality that is upside down.
You hate the Nation to the point that you want to impose your vain less on the whole Nation. You have to pay people because you have nothing to offer. ChurchGist. If you have something to offer, people will almost pay you to be their leader, almost beg you, almost spend their own resources. No need to bribe anybody, this is the season where people must refuse to be bribed and refuse to collect anything just because somebody wants to get into power.
They use stolen money and use it to give you food for one day and oppress you for the next 4 to 8 years. ChurchGist. You can’t go to the farm because of the killers that they hired and brought into the Nation to help them in the election. Anybody who wants the evil we are in to continue; God will deal with them and their generations.
Nothing is going to happen, this time around, only the will of God will come to pass. ChurchGist. Hire fake bishops, hire real bishops. Hire anyone you like, fake, real, impactless, irrelevant bishops, hire anyone you want. Corruption of leadership goes hand in hand with the corruption of the followers. It is time for the followers to say no more. No more! No more!
Please, I want to beg you, there is neat money coming for the Church and you will not be left out. Don’t let one apple corrupt your garden, Adam don’t let one fruit destroy your future. ChurchGist. Adam ate one fruit he was not meant to eat and that was the end of his possession of the garden of Eden. He ate one fruit he was not supposed to eat and that was the end. Don’t let 1 million finish your 1 billion, there is a future for you, don’t let your present destroy it. Esau ate the food he was not meant to eat and his future was lost. Your own future shall not be lost.
WHAT IS THE PROFIT OF TRUTH.
- THE GUARANTEE OF DIVINE PRESENCE.
Psalm 15:1-2. You want to dwell in God’s presence, speak the truth from your heart. Psalm 145:19. If you’re a man and you’re not faking it, you’re calling on God in truth, you’re guaranteed the presence of God. When you appear, people feel God and that presence of God is called the anointing.
- THE GUARANTEE OF THE GRACE OF GOD
Men of truth are men of grace Ephesians 6:24. Everyone who is loving and serving God in sincerity will never lack grace. Anywhere you find truth you will find grace. John 1:17. Everywhere you find truth you find grace, when God has engraced you; you are free from disgrace. So, if you want to be a man who carries grace, walk in truth. ChurchGist. When you walk in lies, you’re disconnected from grace, when you walk in lies, you’re set for disgrace. When you walk in lies and in falsehood, it is not possible to see the presence of God and the presence of God is what excuses the presence of evil.
- GUARANTEE OF DIVINE PRESERVATION.
Truth preserves. Psalm 101:7. 2nd Kings 20:1-6. One of the things that preserved his life, what made sure the devil did not take him out before his time, was that he walked before God in truth.
I speak to somebody here, you shall not be cut short before your time, truth shall preserve your life. Do you remember the man that came and told David a lie? He told David that he killed King Saul, David killed him; what killed that man? It was a lie, he died at the frequency of lies. You will fulfil your days.
- THE GUARANTEE OF DIVINE RESPONSIBILITY AND ASSIGNMENT.
Exodus 18:21. Men of truth, they are not double tongued, they are not truth breakers, they are not promise breakers, they are not unreliable and undependable, they hate covetousness, they can’t be bribed, you can’t buy them, money is not their goal. If you can be bought, it means your life has a price. There is no politician who can look at our eyes and say can you help or assist me and this is the price. I will curse you from your head to your toe, because there is nothing you can give me that God can’t give me and there is nothing you can give me that I cannot give myself. ChurchGist. There are some people, their god is their belly.
An American lady came one day, she was talking in a very arrogant way. I have come from America, I speak in American English, I have come to see if the Church has any need that we can help. I told her, if you have a need, tell us we would help you. ChurchGist. We help thousands of people all the time, we don’t go around begging and looking for money, if you have a need, tell us, the pride broke and she disappeared. You’re telling a lion that you want to kill meat for him.
I want you to come to the point of dignity, where you’re not buyable, when they see you around their corner it’s for their benefit not yours. You want God to take you seriously, then be sincere, be sincere in words and financial resources. I have done official trips that necessitated the return of official money and it has been done, not once, not twice, not thrice. ChurchGist. My wife travelled one day; she helps us to oversee the finances of our family because I have so many things to do with my life that I don’t have time. If you search me now, you can’t find #1 in my pocket, I don’t have the time to sort out money, so when she travelled, I realized I do not have any money in my possession anywhere. So, while I was looking, I saw like #3,000 around the bedside, I didn’t know what the #3,000 for, I don’t know who kept it there, it was in my bedroom but I need to know who has the #3,000 and what it was meant for. So, I called her that there is #3,000 here, I need to do something, is it possible for me to use it? She said why not, the money is yours.
This is the point, I am the owner of the house, I am the owner of the wife, I am the owner of the table, yet I’m asking somebody under me just to be sure that the wrong money is not spent in the wrong direction. Some people may be looking at me like, these people have a lot of money o, they have built big Churches, they must have gotten a lot of money. ChurchGist. No! It is because if God put them in charge of what God has helped us with over almost 30 years, they will be big thieves, they can’t imagine that money has passed through somebody and you cannot imagine that you have not built estate in your village, you have not done many things.
We were administering millions and hundreds of millions when we were still living in a rented apartment for 13 years and half. We built Churches everywhere. ChurchGist. We forgot that we didn’t have a house. When we paid the money for the first land in Abuja here, I was in one room self-contained with many people in that one room, the money we used for the Church could have gotten us a house somewhere at that time. I’m not trying to say anything to blow any trumpet but examples help us understand principles. If you want God to take you seriously, be sincere in words and be sincere in resources. If you want God to handle anything serious into your hand, so you can be sure He can be sure that thing is safe, because anybody that can be bought with money can negotiate away anything.
- SUPERNATURAL OPENED DOORS.
Isaiah 26:2. Lies can make someone appear like he has speed but that is the speed of death, it doesn’t last. When you walk in truth, it might appear that you’re a bit delayed but ultimately when your speed comes, those with lies cannot catch up. ChurchGist. Archbishop Benson Idahosa of blessed memories said, truth and lies will be running a race, lies may appear to be leading initially but the truth will eventually overtake it and lies cannot see the break light of truth.
Don’t be intimidated by the life of those who appear not to be doing the truth and it appears that they’re succeeding, don’t be intimidated by that, just uphold what you know to be true.
One day I was to travel home and my mother told someone, she said, he’s going to come home today and the person said, are you sure? My mother said go to sleep, if he tells you he’s coming, he’s on his way, and I arrived and she said didn’t I tell you. What is the testimony of people around you, of you, especially of your words? Your mother, your father, your wife, your employees, the people you interact with, what is their testimony about what you say. ChurchGist. Your word is your worth. Even God Himself, His Word equals to Him, it means, if your word does not matter, then you don’t matter, it’s just a matter of time.
If your word does not count you can’t count in your generation, you can’t be counted upon. Somebody said some time ago concerning a leader in this Country, when they greet you good morning, look at your time it may be afternoon. ChurchGist. Those leaders died irrelevant, many of them in the military era, some of them are still alive but totally irrelevant. If your word does not matter, then you don’t matter, if you’re appearing important now, it’s only a matter of time. Why is it that God matters? Forever oh God, thy Word is settled. I’m the God I change not, if I can lie, I’m not God, if I can change then I’m not God. So, before you say it, calculate it well whether you mean it, before you’ll promise it, calculate it well, whether you’ll keep it, is better not to say it than to say it and you didn’t mean it, instead take your time and say give me a little time let me think about what you want me to do.

- Father, I ask today for a fresh baptism of the Spirit of truth. I receive freedom from every trace of falsehood, Lord in Jesus’ name. (John 14:16-17; 15:27).
