Another Ground Breaking:

11 days after College of Law ground breaking!

Bishop Oyedepo to lay foundation for Mega ultra modern Covenant University Medical College This Morning.

Only a few days ago, Covenant University, the best and most consistent University in West Africa by reputable world rankings broke ground for her ultra modern College of Law. However as previously announced at Shiloh 2025, the University which is proprieted by its Chancellor, the Rt Rev Dr David Oyedepo led Living Faith Church Worldwide is finally embarking on the Medical College construction.

Dr. David Oyedepo had declared at the inauguration of the College of Law, that it was a strategic move to address a pressing need in Nigeria’s legal and jurisprudential landscape.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the College of Law signified Covenant University’s dedication to addressing legal education gaps and elevating Nigeria’s legal standards, inspiring pride and confidence among stakeholders.

Recalling the University’s rapid development since its licensing on February 12, 2002, Dr Oyedepo reflected on its transformation from what critics once described as a “glorified secondary school” into a leading institution in Nigeria. He noted that Covenant University continues to rank highly, including being named Nigeria’s top institution in the recent QS
Sustainability Rankings, while its graduates remain among the most employable in the country.

“As we open this new chapter, we do so with confidence, because God has always gone ahead of us,” he said, adding that construction of the College of Law will commence immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony on February 12, 2026. He also disclosed that the groundbreaking ceremony for the College of Medicine will take place later in the month which is today.

In her remarks, the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo described the event as a fulfilment of the University’s declared year of “Open Doors.” She noted the significance of the date, observing that February 12 also marks the anniversary of Covenant University’s approval in 2002.

Secretary of the Board of Regents of the institution, Barrister Banji Baruwa, described the development as divinely appointed, expressing optimism that the College would become one of the best in Nigeria and beyond.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, described the new College as the beginning of a transformative era in legal education. He expressed confidence that it would raise a new generation of exceptional legal practitioners and thanked the Chancellor and Board of Regents for their visionary leadership.

The ceremony marks another milestone in the University’s ongoing expansion and commitment to academic excellence and leadership development.

The two colleges namely the Law and medical colleges will be completed within one year.

We know Bishop Oyedepo lives everyday as if he is running against time. We look forward to what he is coming up with after these projects.

After initial plans few years, ago, Dr Oyedepo had paused all plans to commence the project as he insisted on waiting for God’s marching orders.

It is baffling that the orders have come at a time all eyes are on the completion of the Ark Legacy Project, the world’s largest and most ultra modern auditorium later in 2026. The Ark is now at the roofing stage with all kinds of record been broken during this stage.

More details to follow.
