Father, we thank you for this good way to be wasted on you. We give you the praise and the honour for the privilege to be wasted on you. We worship and adore you. Thank you and thank you in Jesus precious name.

The Lord bless His word in Jesus name.

We are going to continue in this blessing Sunday and trust God to be as sharp as we can because we have the communion and also the blessing to release.

FINANCIAL WISDOM – FROM FINANCIAL STRUGGLE TO FINANCIAL STARDOM (3)

1st Kings 10:23-25. Last Sunday we established three things concerning the finances of God’s people and that was:

1. God owns the earth and everything that is in it
2. God is pleased to give His resources to His people.
3. God releases or gives His resources to His people on the basis of covenant walk or covenant wisdom.

So, we began to look at covenant wisdom for supernatural abundance, we had the following point.

1. Place the Love of God above the love of money.
2. Make Kingdom vision your major reason for financial blessings
3. Promptly obey the law of sowing and reaping. Beginning with tithing.
4. Organize and order your resources and finances.
5. Decrease your expenditure and increase your investment.

What area should I invest in?

1. Invest strategically. (Area of drastic needs, area of your potential, area of your wisdom or expertise, area of your passion or what you love, area of your learning or your knowledge and area of divine direction or revelation)

Today, we will move to point 7

7. AVOID THE LIFESTYLE OF BORROWING AND INDEBTEDNESS.

Deuteronomy 15:6. Romans 13:8. Two things I want you to know about the lifestyle of borrowing and indebtedness.

I. Borrowing is an anti-covenant practice, anti-supernatural covenant practice. When we say covenant practice it is not just sowing and reaping. ChurchGist. There are many things that are involved in the practice of God’s covenant with His people for supernatural supply. Not borrowing, not living the life of waste and several other things. Borrowing is anti-covenant practice that nullifies the effect of other covenant practices.

That means You’re a tither, a giver but you’re a borrower, it is plus one and minus one, what your sowing would have done for you is knocked off by your borrowing lifestyle. It is like walking against God’s agenda for your supernatural supply.

II. Borrowing is spending the money you don’t yet have, thereby attacking the harvest before it arrives. The harvest is dead before it arrives, it’s a very tragic thing, avoid borrowing at any level. I believe you can be a mega billionaire and still not borrow. ChurchGist. Someone spoke to me during the May convention, we were speaking on phone and He told me, please you have the privilege of talking to people, please let them know that borrowing is not the way to go, he said before he borrowed money, he had at least a billion dollars that was his own money but after he borrowed, he is now literally struggling to come out of debt. He is servicing the bank and he said there are some financial institutions that can fight you to the point where they will repossess everything you have to service the debt you owe. He said it’s a strategy, it is not the way to live. ChurchGist. I met a covenant practitioner, a Christian man, who before I met him was doing business in one state in Nigeria but now, he has properties/businesses in 34 out of 36 states in Nigeria and he said I have not borrowed once in the bank, he said I made up my mind to practice the covenant, he said he has enough money to mobilize himself no matter the volume of the project. Avoid the lifestyle of borrowing and indebtedness.

8. ENSURE A DEMARCATION BETWEEN BUSINESS CAPITAL AND EXPENDABLE INCOME.

Between the money that belongs to the business and the money that can be spent, it is not every money in your hand that can be spent, many people don’t know this difference, before you know it, what they do collapses. ChurchGist. Genesis 47:23-24. There must be a division of the money such that every money is not spendable. For example, you are running a business and you have a profit of 50 million a month, and then you said to yourself, 5 million is the tithe and what is left is 45 million and then you said whatever giving you are going to give is so and so amount, then you set aside another 10 to 20 per cent (depending on the level of your needs) this would attend to your family and dependents. Let’s say 50 per cent remains as the capital for the business that is 25 million out of the income or more, depending on what you’re doing and so that under no circumstances will any need arise that will make you branch into the money that is meant to go to bring more money.

You know there are people that out of the money that is meant for the business, that is what they use to pay school fees, get food for the house, needs for somebody in the village or to enjoy personal life, even to buy a car, except that car is going to be a business car that is going to bring more money, this is how Africans run down their destiny. ChurchGist. A stranger just appears from the village, I’m stranded, give me house rent. You can do that good today and be stranded for the rest of your life. How about multiplying that money from 50 million to 100 million and from 100 million to 200 million, until you now have more percentage to help more people, there must be that clear demarcation.

As a businessman, if the business is not going too well, you can place yourself on a salary. ChurchGist. I told a man this many years ago, He has money in 9 zeros today. He said I followed your counsel; I don’t just spend money anyhow anymore. I’m now on salary, my salary is so and so a month. So, the money that comes from the business is growing, it’s multiplying the business. Anything that bothers me or bothers my family, I now spend out of my salary, I don’t consider the whole business money as my money anymore. ChurchGist. Yes, you can increase your salary as the business grows, but yet, you have that demarcation. Listen, order is the foundation for increase. God blesses order with increase. He said, he that ordereth his conversation will I show the salvation of the Lord. Order is the foundation for increase, if you can order your life and order your resources, you will be shocked at where you will go, a time can come when your salary will be 10 million because of so much that is coming in, when your salary can be 20 million. But this is very important and if your spouse is running a business don’t run them down with your personal needs.

If your business cannot give you the kind of house your mates are living in, start with a small house, start with a small car. If your business cannot pay for 4-bedroom flat, pay for 1 room self-contain for today. You delay gratification of today to maximize tomorrow’s satisfaction.

People borrow the money they don’t have to impress the people they don’t like. So, their upkeep becomes their downfall. He doesn’t like the man but he wants to show off, let me show him that I have money too. ChurchGist. The person standing here today, I’m a trained medical doctor, same with my wife. I like taste and quality, I’m not inferior, I feel inferior to nobody under Heaven, I carry myself with honour, in fact if you see my walking steps you will know, but my wife and I, two medical doctors lived in 1 room in a boy’s quarter for a start, after leaving two official accommodations in the hospital; we were walking in two hospitals, she was in one while I was in one, we had two different accommodations. We started with one room, about 5 people were in the same 1 room, if I come out of that one room, you won’t know where I came from, not self-contain, I mean 1 room. The one that if you want to go to the toilet you would have to come out of the room, same with kitchen, for 13 months and people see you today and they don’t know where you’re coming from, they don’t know the sacrifices, they thought we just arrived, but that was done for that time so that a future can be created.

There are some people living in a duplex, they have no business living in that duplex, mind you I came from a good background also, I grew up to live in a story building. The story building of my father is over 50 years, same with my wife but we have to kill that class and start from the beginning, because your father’s result is not your result. That is why some children of the so-called big people don’t succeed in life, their head is spoiled with looking after what they know to belong to their father until they are rendered useless. ChurchGist. Check this country, their children are wasted. Can I ask you a question? Some of the significant people and names you have heard in this Country, less than 1 per cent of them, you will still hear the name of their children, do a check.

They didn’t know how the money came, so they don’t know how to sustain it. If you will be able to sustain it, you should be able to know how it arrived. ChurchGist. Accept your status for now, so that you can establish a future for yourself. I believe that somebody is going somewhere.

9. EMPLOY DILIGENCE IN BUSINESS.

Proverbs 10:4. To be slack is to lack. Proverbs 22:29. I’ll like you to note the following down.

A. Diligence is the way of eminence and abundance.

B. You must give life all it takes if it must give you all it contains. Romans 12:11. Don’t be lazy! When Joseph’s brethren arrived in Egypt and Pharaoh was trying to do Joseph a favour, he made demands from Joseph. Genesis 47:6. The King demanded for men of activity, men of valour, hardworking man, alacrity, not people that are just toddling around.

C. You need energy to fulfill destiny, to command prosperity.

I had a story of a man with businesses in over 126 Countries of the world, he will wake up by 2:30am when most people are still snoring on their bed to calculate and orchestrate his concerns around the world. I met a businessman who says he can boast at max 4 hours sleep at night. ChurchGist. As at 1999 he was already worth a billion naira, you know a billion then is not the same as a billion now. There are people who are too sleepy to succeed, even inside Church the guy is sleeping, there is nothing you can do to convince me why you must sleep inside the Church; will you sleep in front of the president of a Country? He’s talking and you’re dozing, it is an unseriousness of life. I told you of one of our pastors sitting in front and he was dozing, I said if I catch you again, I’ll move you to the back. You’re not qualified to sit in the front dozing. If you’re sleeping as a pastor, what will you do if the congregation is sleeping on you. Many people their destiny slipped through their hands because of laziness, you must come to the point where you must respect yourself too much to beg. You respect yourself too much to depend on your father, your mother, your brother, your sister or your wife, that one is the most shameful. I cannot imagine myself asking my wife for food money for this month, I don’t have food money, well madam take care of the food. What about children’s school fees, well are the children not for the both of us, try your best, let’s try. It’s a shame, remove your shoes and wear a skirt, there are two women in the house. If you need to carry cement on your head, it will correct the head, go to a construction site, say I am tired of sitting at home, I’m tired of begging, I’m tired of my wife feeding my family, I’m tired of depending on my wife, I’m tired. If you’re Lazy, life can never be easy.

I was meant to go to preach somewhere and somebody who was coming for the same program and also to minister was kidnapped on the way, two days before I would go, that devil of kidnapping is a bastard in this Country. Their tenure has expired. So, I called the host to find out what happened. He explained it to me, that the people are demanding so and so amount. I said it is well, the Lord rebukes those demons, He shall give us victory in this country. So, what is my own time of ministration, I changed the topic straight, instead of because of what happened on the road, can you pardon me not to come. What is my own time of ministration? So and so time, alright, see you then. You heard that such a thing happened on the road and you’re following that same road. My wife didn’t go with me for that ministration, not because of the news, it was already agreed that she was not going but later on she told me that it is good that she didn’t go for that ministration, but she could not understand the level of my ruggedness. You’re talking about such a thing and you’re still going on that same road.

You know what was on my mind? In my mind was the catapult of David. If the worst comes to the worst, the catapult of David will finish Goliath. Selah! And those people work by charm, they go to the road when their Mallam says the road is clear, so the Mallam will also tell them the road is not clear today, if you go, you’re dead.

Every spirit of laziness I declare it is dead. Every spirit of laziness, weakness and weariness I declare it dies now in the name of Jesus.

Anyone who is here who claims he does not have a Job, wear your suit and knot your tie and just be moving from office to office, tell them I came here to get my job, they say which job? I came here to get my job.

One young man went to an office, he just went there, he is an HND holder and they said we need somebody who has school certificate, the job is a dispatch rider, you’re over qualified for this, the man said OK, employ me for this level, until any position comes for me, but I can start with school certificate level, that was how they employed him for a supervisor level and still looked for the dispatch rider. He was so desperate. Somebody else came to an office and they said no, you’re a novice, you just graduated, we are looking for somebody with job experience. He said employ me and pay me nothing until I get experience. When I get experience interview me again, they looked at him and said this one cannot be denied. He was employed on the spot because the violence takes it by force. When you’re too patience you will become a patient, patience with affliction. ChurchGist. You know to be a patient you must have patience, lay down on the bed and they’ll give you series of injections, bring your hand, yes sir, we are trying to look for the vein, we can’t find it here, okay, take the other hand. You have patience to be a patient. That will never be your portion.

If I was not a pastor, I would still be responsible. When I was a medical doctor, I worked in three places in a day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening and then when coming back home I would carry passengers with the vehicle. What is an empty car doing, blasting in tongues while driving and preaching to the people also? By all means you have to make up your mind, you can’t be stranded.

When I was in Form 5 in secondary school when I met with my father, I said I want to do luxurious bus conductor. Form 5 that is like SS2, he said really, he said feel free and go, that was how I climbed one of the luxurious buses, the route was Kano to Lagos, I know all the places there, the bus will stop in the night, you’ll have to stop to change tire, even though at that time, there were bigger people who were changing the tire. Are you following me? And it was giving me handsome resources in my pocket that were shining. I will go to CMS and Yaba in Lagos and select very sharp dresses; it didn’t start today.

Stand on your feet and say in the name of Jesus, I must succeed, I shall succeed, I refuse to be lazy, I cannot be lazy in the name of Jesus.

10. EMPLOY EXCELLENCE.

Give your very best and bring out the very best. 1st Samuel 16:17. Two points here.

Firstly, excellence is the way of abundance. David stepped into the palace of Saul at the frequency of excellence.

Secondly, mediocrity is the foundation for poverty. When a man is a mediocre, he does things anyhow, it will lay the foundation for poverty. Everything you do, do it at its best. Don’t do shabby jobs, don’t give out shabby output, do it at its best. Hallelujah!

Somebody did a painting of me many years ago and he put the picture of the painting he did, he is a secondary school holder who never studied anything, he placed the picture side by side, he wants me compare and tell him if there is any difference? No difference, the painting was like the picture. Excellent! Those are the kinds of painting that people pay millions for, someone else did a painting of me, that one has a degree, when I saw the painting, the question I asked is, how did I offend you? If I did anything wrong tell me directly, instead of painting it, extra allowances for ears and the nose, some places were discounted, some places were extra allowances. I looked at it and said oh, he has the certificate but he is not certified. If such a person should present his handwork, he already closes his door before he steps there. ChurchGist. Beloved, excellence is your doorway to eminence and abundance.

11. DO WHAT YOU KNOW AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

If you’re going to command resources, do what you know and know what you’re doing.

The summary of this is study all you can in your line of business or investment, study all you can in that line. ChurchGist. People come to you and say there is this new investment, it will pay you 10,000 or 20,000 naira every month, don’t just hurriedly and without adequate thought push money there, find out exactly what they do, how they do it, how it generates the resources?

Somebody brought an investment to us sometimes ago, to the Church. In terms of Church money, we had many monies lying fallow many years ago, I was like is there anywhere this money can be fixed instead of it staying fallow and that the money will yield interest. Some people introduced shares and that was done and then under 24 hours I became restless, I asked, can this money be moved out now and that was done, the next day there was a crash, people lost millions and billions. The next time another person came, the first question I asked was what do you do? What do you do with the money that it would yield interest? He couldn’t explain and if he tries to explain, the explanation wasn’t clear and so what would happen therefore is that one person’s money will be used to give another person interest, it’s called a Ponzi scheme, a pyramidal scheme. So, it is by getting more money that they pay people, when people stop depositing the payment ends or it crashes and many of them have crashed like that. ChurchGist. What do you exactly do that causes you to give people interest? Simple question. So, there are people who have lost money and lost resources because they’re not doing what they know and they don’t know what they are doing. In case somebody introduces a business to you and you’re not sure of it, try and know it first and if it is your line of business, any training you’ll have to take yourself to, so as to improve yourself in your line of business is worth it. If you’re a realtor, understudy big realtors, big estate developers, under study them, what are they doing?

2nd Chronicles 8:18. To be knowledgeable is to be marketable, knowledgeability is profitability, the thing you know and you know how to do it well will bring you profit.

Knowledge is from two words, know and edge. What you know will give you an edge over your contemporaries, even in your generation. To know is to have an edge, any area you know, in that area you have an edge and there is no end to knowing, almost everything now can be learnt online.

12. UPHOLD INTEGRITY; BE FAITHFUL.

If you’re going to command resources, be faithful. Genesis 14:22-24. Genesis 39:5-5-6. Job 1:1-3. Financial integrity is the platform for Kingdom integrity and prosperity. The prosperity of this Kingdom drives on financial integrity. On the other hand, financial crookedness is the way to future wretchedness. ChurchGist. Mubutu Sese Seko of the Democratic Republic of Congo got so much wealth and he died without a penny, he died in exile without one penny of that money.

Idi Amin Dada of Uganda almost finished that Country with fraud and crookedness, he died without a dime of that money. Keep on going, our own Country here, people who have lived in time past, some of them you don’t want to hear their names now, crookedness.

How many of you know, how many people that come out of office in this country, Governor or any other public office and become broke on the spot? I don’t know if you know, broke on the spot, more broke than a broken record. That is why some of them insist on becoming something, he was senator before he became Governor, after governorship he wants to return to the House of Senate. Not for service delivery nor impact but for free money collection. 50 million for constituency development, how many million for something something? Not a borehole is dug and it is not hard to make an impact, with only 5 or 10 million you can impact a community on a monthly basis, yet since he will not come out. They do everything possible and kill people just to get to power.

It is better to make money for yourself than to hang in a system just to make money. In most developed Countries the people who go into power are people who are successful in every realm, successful lawyers, doctors and have enough resources gathered. Not so here. Wretchedness, many are wretched today because they were crooked yesterday.

Secondly, anything that is not yours by right does not increase your life. Any income that is not yours by right does not bring you increase; it brings you losses. Financial integrity will take you far, I don’t have one cheque of this Church in possession, I don’t even have my personal cheque book in my possession, the Cheque book of this Church is with the account department, my cheque book is in my wife’s possession. That’s how free I’m with money, I master money it doesn’t master me, I don’t have any cheque in my possession but I can summon any amount anytime by His mercies.

There was one of our sisters that was healed in her neck and she brought offering in dollars, she said I came to appreciate, I said I won’t collect an offering because I am not your healer, God healed you, if you want to give it, go to the Church and give it and she came to drop it in the Church only for her to come home with the same envelop and the same money was inside the envelop, pastor said I won’t collect it, God said I also healed you free of charge.
